Cute story, but a slow build.  The characters are likable enough, but the first person narration leaves the character development a bit lacking.   It was a bit over-narrated at times, with too much detail on the details that didn’t need the most focus.
Overall, a decent read- but not a favorite of the genre.

A fun, easy read- the protagonists are enjoyable characters who are easy to  for cheer for.  The story is told by two narrators, and the back and forth narration keeps the book moving well.  Definitely enjoyed this read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster) for this digital ARC!

Absolute perfection.   A beautiful novel that shines a light on the struggles of Vietnam veterans, both during war and back at home.   Emotional, touching, and haunting.

I received an ARC, thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton.

It was hard for me to get into this story at first- the inciting incident doesn’t take place until you’re 1/3 into the novel- but once the plot really picked up its pace, I couldn’t put it down.

There are several themes explored, including mental health, generational trauma, loyalty, and mother/daughter relationships.   At times, I felt there may be too much happening within the story, but it all came together nicely in the end.  The twist at the end was not what I had been expecting, which is always appreciated in a thriller.
This is one I won’t be able to get out of my head!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing.  I have not read the previous two books in the series, but look forward to doing so!
I enjoyed this novel - although the beginning was a bit confusing to me, and I didn’t like how angsty our protagonist was. Even with the confusion, I was quickly hooked by the plot, drawn to the characters, and anxious to know what was coming.
Some of the descriptions seemed repetitive (stormy eyes, for example), and the book contained a couple typos.  However, this was a win for me.
