This book took me a while to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it!
We join Bree Matthews a few months after the loss of her mum and as she starts a pre college course. One her first night she goes to a party and sees something strange! Someone tries to wipe her memory but it seems she's immune. Soon she's drawn into a secret society that are the descendants King Arthur and his knights.
There were lots of twists and turns some fab characters with great development!
This was going to be 4⭐ until the last 100 pages the ending was amazing and made it jump right to a 5⭐ I can't wait for the next book to come out

I loved the film and was excited to read the book and it lived up to expectations! It would have been 5 stars but the Robert De Niro/lighting catching pirate was only in it for 2 pages and no where near as fun!

It was great to be back in Croswald!. I really enjoyed the second instalment of this series! It's such a fun and easy read. I love the world and all the weird and wonderful creatures that live there (I'm looking at you Humboldt) I enjoyed seeing more of Croswald such as the Town (sorry I can't tell you it's name) where there's amazing shops, you can fish for stars and of course what a Quogo match or 2 (think magic duals but with ghosts of past scrivinists!)
we join Ivy as she spends summer in the town, working in the potions shop and making new friends. She is told it isn't safe to return to school and is sad when all her friends return without her but is delighted when she receives a letter from the selector (or is it!) saying its safe to return! Although happy to be back she soon discovers it isn't safe and shes being followed by a shadow. This turns out to be the shadow of one if her class mates who the Dark queen has cursed! Of course Ivy with the help of Rebecca (who is totally kickass and turns into a dragon) helps save Gretta. Then looking through Derwins memories she discovers where the next part of the stone is! Once again Fyn joins her on the dangerous journey to retrieve it! Though this leads to another confrontation with the dark queen and to stop her getting the stone she has to reveal the towns name. This leads to a battle where together they defeat the shadow and the dark queen foe now!
loved meeting the the QQC and seeing Ivy make friends ( I think she's gonna need it in the next book!) You got to see more of her relationships with Rebecca and Fyn. I love Ivy's journey of discovery about herself and how she's didn't doing the wrong think last time she faced the dark queen. I'll definitely be reading the 3rd book. I can't wait to find out more about the dark queen! And of course see how are hero Ivy will defeat her (fingers crossed)

A great start to a new series! I really enjoyed this book, was a nice easy read, though it did feel like it was setting up the rest of the series. At the beginning I couldn't help but compare it slightly to Harry Potter! An orphan who doesn't know she has magical powers being invited to a magical school, being given a list of magical things she can get in magical shops. Though Ivy knows magic exists and has often dreamt of being invited to study to be a scrivinist. And on her 16th birthday this comes true! Though it seems that Ivy is destined to be more than just a scrivinist! There's secrets and mystery Ivy seems to have a knack for getting into trouble (though if someone told her what was going on she wouldn't be running off trying to find out what's happening, but also the book wouldn't be as fun! I liked Ivy's friend Rebecca and hope to see more of there friendship! I enjoyed the ending and Ivy wasn't who she thought she would be! I'll definitely read the rest of the series as it's a nice easy read and I want to find out more about who Ivy is and if she can beat the evil Queen!

I started reading this book with high expectations which unfortunately weren't quite meet!
The Hollow Sisters disappeared for a month 10 years ago and where never quite the same, their appearance changed and they can't quite remember what happened. When the oldest sister go missing the other two have to find her.
whist looking for their missing Sister Grey Vivi and Iris start to unravel what happened to them 10 years ago! They discover they went to the halfway place, a place full if death and decay, where the dead with unfinished business are stuck. A mysterious man kidnaps Grey and Vivi and takes them back to the halfway and Iris follows to save them. Whilst there Iris learns they are not who they think and they are changelings, and Grey enticed the Hollow sisters into the halfway so they could take there place.
I found it a bit slow going and I guessed the majority the twists at the end which kind of spoiled it for me and the ones I didn't guess didn't have me gasping or shocked.
