I accidentally read this one first instead of the Fantasy League - oh well.
I liked this book it felt really short because of the pace, read almost all of it in 4 hours. The banter was so good in the beginning but the innuendos got tired quick which I guess was the point because they annoyed me.
The enemies to lovers was really only in the beginning and I wish they truly had a hate fuck instead of going into it slowly. It felt more like enemies to unlikely friends to lovers. Though him leaving Mae like that was a power move.
The grocery scene was everything and more, my favorite! The aftercare was really nice and cute too.
The fact that there was no third-act-break-up and instead a third-act-get-together-for-real was refreshing.
I didn’t like the epilogue, it felt out of place and akin to the surprise pregnancy trope which I hate. And it kind of ruined Lea and Fortune’s story.
October Calhoun is a def book boyfriend tho.
After reading the first book, she really drained Abel’s entire personality huh. Not a speck to be found in this book.

I enjoyed this book but some things irked me. Even tho this book is on the shorter side it didn’t feel like it, the pacing of it made it drag on enough that I was considering dnfing it at 80% as well as I did not want to deal with the third-act-breakup which I was pleasantly surprised didn’t really happen. The large chunks of paragraphs were also what made it feel soo long. The romance was nice and sweet but I was disappointed in the amount of smut scenes; like if you’re gonna do a friends with benefits situation there should be more than 3 sexy scenes. I did not appreciate the fade to black scenes.
The time skips were not done the greatest, at least to me as three years are gone over in just the prologue and it didn’t seem like 3 years had gone by from the beginning of them meeting for the second time.
Some characters felt a little left behind, like Cherry and Thomas, we don’t hear much about them for many chapters and then just randomly Cherry being pregnant at the end felt thrown in as an afterthought. As well as even after making up with her brother, we don’t learn much about present Caleb other than he’s married with a kid and works in auto. I would’ve liked more Joshua content, love them being domestic with a kid.

I loved this book! The family drama, the found family of Gemma’s friends, amazing! I was intrigued from the start of the book, I loved the authors writing, she made the mundane seem interesting. I loved the premise of it being a marriage of convenience for them and how Gemma just immediately went along with no prompting to a stranger no less. I loved their relationship and watching it grow into something real. The cast of roommates was so fun, loved every single one of them. Needless to say I hated Tucker and Lucy but the author did a good job making them hateable. I hated the ruined wedding everything was going perfect. But the surprise proposal/marriage scene made up for it. Kinda sad they didn’t have their big wedding though. My favorite scene was their revenge on Tucker with the glitter, as they said I wish we were there to see it explode on him.
The smut was *chef’s kiss.* I wish there was more of it than just the two scenes, especially since Gemma was always teasing about keeping her promises.
I hated how Gemma felt like she failed at the end and thought Tansy wanted nothing to do with her even though they both still loved each other so much, was screaming at the book at that point because Gemma couldn’t see what was right in front of her.
