This was a frickin’ rollercoaster and truly a lot of fun. I was wary about the love triangle because they tend to go very badly for me, but this one was actually really well written. I was genuinely torn between the two love interests until the second half when I started to lean one way and didn’t look back. I agree with a lot of the criticisms that the story is not very fresh and the main character was not great (I’m also a bit confused by the worldbuilding but whatev), but the ending was super exciting and I’m interested to see how the sequel turns out!

4.5 stars!! OMG. This was INCREDIBLE, especially considering that I started and gave up on this book three separate times in the first 10%. The beginning is suuuuper slow and I was wary about the fact that I kept reading reviews that said there was no romance in this, which I usually don’t enjoy. BUT WOW. I loved this so much!!

All of the characters are fantastic. I loved Artemisia, the revenant was FRICKIN PHENOMENAL omg so funny and definitely the highlight of this book. I also loved the side characters Marguerite, Charles and Jean (and eventually LEANDER trust me I was shocked as well)

I am seriously so excited for the sequel to this!
