Apex Prey: An Extreme Horror Novel: A Splatterpunk Lovestory
Lesley Camphouse, Lesley Camphouse
You really start sympathize with Polly and I'm loving her feminine rage.
Spoilers: I'm a little bummed we didnt get more of a love story. What a power couple they could have been. I actually felt really bad for Dylan at the end bc he was just a traumatized child himself. Damn you for making me feel bad for a man! 🤣 Polly's unhinged rage was insane and def made sense *why* she snapped.
More spoilers: My only complaints were that we didnt get a smidge more of their relationship to so I could really be like "fuck ya Dylan deserved it" There were hints of him being controlling and having that developed a bit wouldve been good. (Can you tell I just feel guilty for feeling bad for the dude lmaoo).
I was also a little taken out bc I felt like the torture was just the same with a different dude's name. I would have liked a lil variety in the body gore from scene to scene. but overall 4/5 Can't wait to read the next one!

Cute story, weird AI images. There were pages where a tail was growing out of a box or a patch of grass. Flowers growing out of the top of flowers, apples floating in a tree.
This was decent. I can see it resonating with a lot of women out there. It does feel a little quote-y but makes sense after I read the author was an instagram poet. That is def the vibes of this collection. Still good and would make a good gift :)
The characters were not great. Its okay that every single one was unlikeable they just needed some variation. I know they were all suppose to look the same, but no way they all acted the same and similar backgrounds too. Mean Girls but just a clones.
The plot was very okay-ish. The twists werent super twisted but it doesnt always need to be a break ur neck. This just fell flat and was very much because of the characters. Strengthening up and uniquely differentiating them and their background stories and motives would have helped a lot here.

What a fun read. Starts off super strong with my favorite Stitches Like Kisses, Tongue Like a Knife -- which was my favorite <3 it was beautiful & gore, with vibes of Frankenstein and sprinkle in some Stockholm syndrome. It pulled on my heartstrings. I NEED A FULL NOVELLA of this story!
Other favorites were the Butterfly Food, The Walk, Selfish Desires, and ending strong with Is He Dead Yet? aka Melaniabot and the powerpuff girls
Touching stories with blood and guts! Just like I like it. 4.5/5 I would def read more from these authors

Poetic, heartbreaking, beautiful! This was such a good little read. So much unresolved trauma, I am left wanting to know more but I think that's the point. This worked very well.
