I adored this story. I saw a TikTok where it was described as ‘cozy fantasy adjacent’ and I would completely agree. Perfect spooky fall vibes with a very dark premise, but the story evolves into found family and a cozy quest. One of the more unique books I’ve read and I highly recommend!

Not at all suspicious and definitely very cute. This was a really fast YA read from a romance author I love, and she writes beautifully complex characters. I wish there had been more to the survival course, and the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly. Otherwise, loved it!

I devoured this book. A story that is equal parts love, sci-fi, mystery, and retrospective. And in being all of those things, it becomes something completely new. A completely unique time loop story that captures you from the first chapter and never lets go.

Super unique noir murder mystery set in a mystical city with elves, draconids, mermaids, humans, and more. I want more more more about the history of this place and this city and how it came to be. But this was a GREAT opener to this world because Thompson doesn’t spend time forcing world building on you - she just tells the story and lets you pick up details along the way. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for volume 2.

Less interesting and impactful than book 1. Slower story movement and the awe was diminished since I had already gotten used to the artistic style. I also appreciate Hades pointing out their age difference, but if anything, now I've just gotten the super ick about the direction of the love story.

The end of an era with Kelly Thompson’s incredible version of Carol. Highlights for me were the Fallen Avenger and the story in the future. I’ll miss Thompson’s Captain Marvel but I’m excited to see what’s next for her.
