Wow did this book take me forever to read. It was a mistake to listen to as an audiobook because it was 30 hours long...I could have finished it much faster by actually reading a physical copy. I did love getting to hear the accurate accents and the narrator was fantastic.

I really did enjoy this book - I don't know that I loved it, and it seemed to go off on so many irrelevant tangents...but everything did add to the depth of the story and made you feel more connected to the setting.

I'm intrigued by the series and want to continue, but not before a nice long break.

So not my style of book, but this was my first read with my new book club! I love that I was somewhat forced to read it because I was able to get out of my box of YA/Children's Lit and actually use my brain for a bit. There are parts of Mamah's personality that I love, and some really fantastic ideas that I enjoyed from Ellen Key, but for the most part I just couldn't relate to this book. I guess in the sense of understanding how easy it is to get sucked into this bland life and feel a need to escape I can side with Mamah and Frank, but I hate how Mamah went about the whole situation. Ick.

Critique-wise, I think the book dragged on a bit too long. It seemed like Horan took hold of any possible trip or anything anyone had ever mentioned Mamah and Frank doing and she had to do a whole chapter about it.

It prompted some great discussion at the book club and in the end, I'm glad I read this book!

Read/sang this with Kindergarten to talk about soft singing - love the dreamlike illustrations.

One of the best. Love the conversations it prompts with my students. Great song for teaching 4/4 meter.

Great illustrations of course - not my favorite song but my younger music students enjoy singing it and seeing the pictures.

I adored this sweet little book. I would have wanted to be Anna's best friend if I were in elementary school today. I love reading books like this because I feel like sometimes when I'm so wrapped up in my own teacher mind I forget how the students interpret what I say or do. It has helped me to be more understanding of the softer, quieter students as well as more patient with all of my kids.

Can't quit gushing over this adorable book. I grabbed it from my school librarian on the way to a concert that I would have to spend a lot of time backstage for and I couldn't put it down! I love short chapters (in any book) and I loved Flora's character. What a quirky, strange, wonderful girl. And I loved Ulysses' love for Flora. Can't recommend enough!

Cute, but just ok. I liked the story, and I liked Penny's character. Quality of writing/prose: eh. Pacing: not bad.

Still enjoying this series. St. John is a very realistically creepy villain and I liked how the author put the turmoil in the Reapers. It was a more mature style of writing to put so much thought into the complexity of the villains. I have never liked books that switch so frequently between so many points of view, but this series does it pretty well. I still wish (as I did in book 2) that we didn't have to hear from St. John so much - I'd rather hear more from the characters we care about. Still, great series, and I can't wait to hear what the final book has in store.
