Pretty much what I expected it to be, but John Green was still able to surprise me with his level of insight in a strange post-apocalyptic world. Mia surprised me at the end, and I'm intrigued by part two to see how her decision affects her mind and her life.

John Green continually amazes me. In a mere 26 pages he manages to introduce a fantastic heroine, create an epic problem, and reveal an unexpected twist. Loved this one even more than the first. More Zombicorns!!!

I surprisingly enjoyed this more than the first! It felt like overall each of the characters had more 'realness' to them. Granted, I know that in the first book Ginny was in kind of a haze the whole time so that's how it came across to us as well, but I would much rather feel like I know what's going on the whole time. Each of the characters really had more of a light and dark side this time, including Ginny, which made them more realistic.

My biggest qualm is that Richard still seems rather aloof and not really there. And her parents didn't think about sending a cell phone with her and making her check in? I lived in Europe for 4 months when I was 20 and still had to contact my parents somehow everyday.
And finally I didn't love how Oliver's story ended. It was predictable - which wasn't really a problem - but too quick. He left the auction house and Ginny found him and he told his story and she left and that was that. I wish Ginny had found out at least a little more about him during the trip and had a little more of a goodbye at the close. Anyway.

A cute book that I finished quick!

I did think Hana's voice was unique and interesting to read, but her decision at the end to give up Lena and Alex seemed out of character considering the entire short story seemed to establish Hana as a rebel. There wasn't enough change in her character after the encounter with Steve at the last party to think that she would go all the way to giving up her best friend.

I liked this SO much more than Hana. Annabel's character was different and inspiring and refreshing to read. And at the end I just wanted to know how she got to where she was in Pandemonium! I'm sure we'll learn more about her in Requiem. We have to!

Predictably fantastic.

I swear this book was written by a fangirl for fangirls. I knew this within the first couple of chapters, but Rose is one of my favorite characters of all. time. I LOVE her personality, she has the absolute best comebacks in any situation, and while she doesn't take anything from anybody, she still has a heart that can be broken. Lissa was an ok character to me, but I love the girls' relationship.
The fangirl comment was a realization for me when Dimitri and Rose finally had their scene at the end. I went through the book thinking that by the end they were both going to realize their feelings for each other but equally realize that nothing could ever be done about it and I was going to have to get to future books to find out more. But then it was like even Mead couldn't just sit by with that, so she conveniently had Victor put the "lust" spell on them so we got the JUICIEST SCENE ever. Goodness. I am in loooove with Dimitri. For real.
Can't wait to go read more!

Loved it. Just as much as the first. Still fangirling over Dimitri. Love him. Moving on to book 3!
