This book was delightful to read for the most part of it and made me giddy with Christmas feelings. My favourite one of the three short stories was The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson. Jubilee’s struggles and character just really resonated with me and it was wonderful to see the world through her eyes. Her journey to Gracetown was a very fitting opening to this book. It took me a chapter to get used to the characters of John Green’s short story that followed but in the end I enjoyed it nevertheless. The romance was sweet and predictable and you were rooting for the Duke and Tobin to finally admit that they like each other, which didn’t only become obvious to JP but also to the reader quite early. The final story, which I anticipated because I was interested in the backstory of the earlier introduced character Jeb, didn’t really catch my attention and I rather skimmed through it in bits. I found the protagonist and narrator of The Patron Saint of Pigs simply very annoying and I got angry at her for behaving like a bratty little child. The final one didn’t do the first two stories justice and left me wishing to have read this one first. Now there is a sour taste towards finishing this book.
Still I loved the snow, Christmas mood and the young romances that were displayed in Let It Snow and would recommend it to everyone who enjoys a nice quick read that will get you into the winter mood. If you can, you should read this book while wrapped in a very comfortable, warm jumper and drinking a hot beverage of your choice.
