This book makes you think really carefully about what you would do and how far you would go to protect your family.

Jake has a good life, he has a brilliant job that he started from nothing, to the thriving business it is today, he has a beautiful wife Pam who he loves very much, and a teenage son Ryan who he doesn't know very well at all.

Jakes relationship with Ryan is fading, he is always at work and doesn't have any time for him, and he wants to put it right.

After a discussion about it with his wife it is decided that he will collect Ryan from the cinema that evening instead of Pam.

He turns up on time and collects Ryan as agreed, they are driving home with the usual uncomfortable silences they start to bond and actually start to chat like father and son.

When Ryan asks to drive his dads car, Jake obviously refuses as Ryan doesn't have his drivers permit yet although he will have it in 1 month, and it was also after 11pm.

Because they are getting on so well Jake decides that it won't hurt and pulls over on a long deserted road and lets Ryan drive.
All is well and Ryan is a good driver, they are chatting away and turn a bend and ...............

Jakes life is turned upside down ........

This book is great, it has twists turns and then when you think you have it BAM another one pops up.

A great read 4.5☆

I was so excited to listen to this as I loved Flat Out Love, I was so SO disappointed! !

Blythe McGuire is treading water, going through the motions of college and normal every day mundane things.
The depression of losing her parents in a tragic accident 4 years ago is still too much for her, but she is trying to force herself to live a "normal" life.

In her senior year she meets Chris Shepard and there she finds a "connection", she is able to come to terms with her parents death and share a mutual bond as he has also lost a parent.

Now up to this point the book had potential, however it just started to go downhill from there really. Blythe didn't want a relationship with Chris......then she did........then they had sex .......then they broke up........then she felt the connection........had sex........broke up blah blah blah.

All the way through she seemed to say one thing and then do the complete opposite, I didn't understand her reasoning!

Chris was at first a lovely boy/man who had his own daemons to face but ignorned them to help Blythe with hers, but then all of a sudden he was this 21 year old sex god with better moves than a pornstar.

Chris's siblings were lovely and they took Blythe under their wing and made her part of their family, but at the same time, I felt like she strung Sabin along, as reading between the lines, I think that he was in love with her ( although it was never mentioned) and she leaned too heavily on him.

The whole family was f'd up and needed some serious therapy which again is never mentioned.

A disappointing 2•5☆

I was very excited about reading this book after reading the blurb, and it was good, I liked it but …………………

The audiobook narration was BAD, way too fast, I mean she didn’t take a breath, I had to slow the book down to 0.9 for it to even make sense, and it was soooo mind numbingly monotone, I honestly thought it was going to send me to sleep!

That being said thank god that Mrs Quinn is a good writer because it kept me listening.

It is a VERY quick read, I was doing this as a buddy read, started it, and before you knew it I was on chapter 10!!

It starts off a little slow but then WHOOSH it throws you straight in.

Kira is a Zero, a nobody, a no-one! The reason for this is because she has not changed, she cannot read minds like everyone else, and worst of all they cannot read hers.

Turns out though that she can’t read minds but she can jack into them, (jump into your head and control your thoughts / feelings etc.) which is much cooler in my opinion!!

Now the book kind of takes a twist at this point and is very quick to jump into the main story, considering Kira has only known about her abilities and what she can do for about 6 weeks, she certainly learns quickly how to do things that other people can’t, and have been trying to do for years.

Simon was a pig and I didn’t like him from the start, he was slimy and weird!

All being all I liked it and I will read the next one in the series to see where is ends.

Well this one is going straight onto my favourites shelf !!

I may gush a couple of times during this review, I do apologise. I also had this as a buddy read so I have to thank Kristin for listening to my rambles haha!

I wasn't really looking forward to this book i have to say, it got chosen also for my Dusty bookshelf so I thought I would get it over and done with, what a brilliant mistake to make!

Amanda is a top Junior student at Peel Academy, it's basically a school for kids that eventually end up in organisations like the CIA or the FBI, that is what they train for. They train for things like hostage situations, guns to the head, hand to hand combat.......you know, normal stuff like that!

At the end of every term they have a "testing" this is to prove how good you are, and for the CIA etc. to choose new recruits.

Amanda completes her challenges but messes one of them up, and also as she is a junior she wouldn't get picked anyway........
After the testing everyone sits in the hall to have the graduation candidates read out by the head, and to receive their envelope with their new career in it (a la Harry Potter)

Unfortunately Amanda has a very funny feeling that her name is going to be read out, her boyfriend Abe tells her not to be so silly.........can you guess what happens?? Yep she gets picked.

Only Amanda gets picked not for the CIA but the Annum Guards, an unknown department run by the government, that deals in time travel!

Now at this point if I was reading this review I would say "right, that's me off then" I don't do time travel stuff, it's just too mehh for me, but I was enjoying the book so I kept with it.

Amanda aka Iris is bound by secrets and lies and taught how to go back in time to "enhance, not alter history"

I loved all of the characters, especially Iris and Yellow, the narration was brilliant and the book was actually very funny as well.

So there you have it, a badass, kickass, time travelling cracker of a read, I loved it and can't wait till the next one in the series is out.

Kyra Agnew is a normal teenager, she has a boyfriend called Austin that lives across the street and she is deciding what college she is going to, she is happy.

After a ball game she says goodbye to her boyfriend and gets in the car with her father to go home, unfortunately they have an argument in the car along a back road, she tells him to stop the car and gets out, her father follows her.......There is a flash ........

The next thing Kyra is waking up behind a gas station in a dumpster!!

Kyra has no idea what has happened but goes home to say sorry to her father .......only someone else is in her house, who has no idea who she is.

Turns out that Kyra has been missing for 5 years! !

Now before realising this she runs over to Austins house and runs into his arms, only it's not him, it's his younger brother Tyler........His 12 year old brother is now a hottie!

HOWEVER at the end of the day, this happened to Kyra yesterday, although Tyler is 17 now, Tyler was 12 YESTERDAY, he was following her around and annoying her YESTERDAY! !

This book didn't answer any questions in the book AT ALL, there was instalove which is usual in YA books I understand that, but this was literally INSTANT! And although Austin was a bit of a nobhead he was forgotten after 4 chapters!

I may read the 2nd book to find out if there there are any answers, but I won't be rushing out to buy it.

A bit of a push for 3☆.......Just!

Actual rating 3.5 *

What if you were going to see your parents for the last time before you were leaving the house?
What would you do?
Would you tell them that you loved them?
Or would you just run to catch the bus, as you actually don't know that this is going to be the last time you ever see them, you don't know that it is pretty much going to be the end of your life as you know it!

This is another end of the world book, but a nice short read (about 6 hrs)

Dean and his "friends" all end up being stuck in a superstore as the air is poisonous to breathe to certain people, this starts out as a great time and they have fun and play games, but it soon turns into something not so much fun.

I enjoyed the book, a nice quick 3.5* read and I will read the next one to see what happens to them all.

I didn't like it as much as the 1st book, but enjoyed it, it was good to find out what happened to the kids.

I will definitely read the 3rd one to see how everything wraps up and what happens to Dean and Alex.

I couldn't get into this book at all, it is all based on the fact that you believe that "Ben" (not his real name) is a trained assassin and has regular assignments to bump people off. ......However he is only about 15yrs old, so I didn't!

This assignment happens to be a member of the government but there is one problem......His daughter Sam, queue YA love interest and backing out.

It's a shame really as it could have been a really good story, but I had no interest in any of the characters at all.

I was slightly nervous about reading this after reading the Dark Duet series, I like dark but not too dark. But I was pleasantly surprised as I really enjoyed this book, and I think I have a new book boyfriend in Victor….Yummy!!

Sarai has been captive for 9 years, she is being held in a house and as sex slaves go is being treated quite well by Javier, as opposed to the others in the compound.
Javier is a Mexican drug dealer and he was “given” Sarai when she was 14!

Sarai is sick and tired of all of the brutal raping of the other slaves there, and her opportunity comes to escape when an American Hit-man comes on the compound to talk business with Javier, she manages to sneak out and get into his car and hide.
Unfortunately Victor (the hit-man) knows that she is in the car straight away, but she manages to convince him to let her stay in the car and escape with him.

But the problem now is that she has escaped the clutches of one violent man, straight into the care of another, Victor is dark and dangerous…….and I LOVED him !!!!

This book kept me reading right to the very end and I was really sad to have it finish, but it left me wanting to read the 2nd one straight away.

A cracking 4.5 ☆ read.
