🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Brilliantly Dark and Funny Stars
I already knew after I had finished Chapter 3 that I would be giving this book 5 stars!
The main character Rhiannon is just perfect, I laughed out loud many MANY times, she is outrageous, crude, rude and definitely a psychopath, as she proudly tells us!
"Did a Buzzfeed quiz this morning - How Psychopathic Are You?
Turns out - Very. I scored 82 percent."
Look, one thing you need to know about this brilliant book, you are either going to absolutely love it, or hate it!
If you are not into inappropriate jokes, and classic put downs I would avoid this one like a dose of the clap, however if you like to have your sides split with laughter then add it straight to your TBR.
(I've been adding some of her put-downs in a little book to remember for when me and my husband argue)
The book is written in diary form at the beginning of every chapter, every day she makes a "Kill List" of all of the people that she wants to bump off, this can range from ALL of her work colleagues, to the bloke standing behind her in the supermarket, from her neighbour, to her boyfriend Craig.
The thing is, as funny as her kill list is, girl-next-door Rhiannon Lewis IS actually a killer, and a serial killer at that, something she is very proud of!
"Also, I'm officially as serial killer now, according to Google: "a person who murders three or more people with the murders taking place over a period of time with an extended cooling off period". I fit the bill almost perfectly.
Finally I've accomplished something. Finally I have a reason to go to school reunions.
'Me?' Pause for hair flick. 'I'm a serial killer. Yah, I take human heads to work in my lunchbox. I keep my mother's skull as a bedpost and use my father's nipples as light pulls, you're so sweet to notice!' "
She hates pretty much everyone and everything, except her dog Tink, and her Sylvanian Families doll house, and makes no bones about telling you what she would like to do to anyone that pisses her off.
There is VERY strong language in this book (the C word is used quite a few times) but it is usually done in a fun jokey way....usually!
She has a lot to say about people and their problems, well if you count things like having a baby a problem!
"Just had a text from Cleo - Anni had a baby boy called Samuel at 3.19 this morning. Nine pounds something and no drugs. her vagina must look like a lasagne dropped from a department store roof"
The only way i can describe this book is this, it's a cross between Dexter, YOU by Caroline Kepness, and a Sophie Kinsella / Bridget Jones book!
If those 3 types of book float your boat, and you don't mind the odd dismembered penis and F' bomb thrown in, with a little mix of graphic sexual descriptions, then this little gem is the book for you.
🎧🎧 Narrated by Georgia Maguire brilliantly, I laughed out loud multiple times and thought that she did an excellent job, i will certainly be looking out for her other books
There is a book 2 available now, and i have already got it because if that ending!
Prepare yourself to fall in love with Rhiannon and her literal nutty ways.

What do you do when you hear a song lyric and wonder what it means? You write to the artist of course!
Remember that time before the internet that you used to buy Smash Hits to find out the lyrics to the songs you've been singing along to, only to find out that you've been singing them wrong this whole time?
Remember watching Going Live on Saturday mornings, watching and waiting for Spandau Ballet to come on to the telly so that you can drool over the saxophone player.....what was his name again??
Remember when you used to write in to the TV shows, just to get a band/artist to answer your questions?
Well Dave and Derek Philpot have done just this thing, and well, taken it to the stalker extreme, and actually wrote to the bands about things you have always wanted to know, like to Spandau Ballet advising them to speak to Watchdog about the fact that they had bought a ticket to the world and now they've come back again. or just to to berate Bananarama for using the phrase 'Bop bop shoo be doo-wah.'
What is even funnier, is that most of these bands have written back, sometimes being their normal selves, but sometimes, just sometimes having a good old laugh and carrying on the jokes with the boys.
A great book to read as a music lover and a great present for one too, it is a fab coffee table book, filled with fun and laughs.
⭐⭐⭐⭐·5 Thirsty Stars
Do you know what's lovely? being able to go to the tap...turn it on...and water come out of it.
To be able to fill your glass and quench your thirst with a lovely cool glass of water.
To be able to run a bath, or have a shower, an extra long shower at that!
But what would happen if that all of a sudden stopped one day, without even a warning, just stop!
I mean there has been a drought in the area for a while, everyone knows that, and the usual bans have been in place, don't water your lawn, don't take long showers, don't fill your pools.....but this is... different!
You'd check around your area right? Then you'd check the news to see if something was wrong. Then you'd see that there was a "Tap-Out" and the water had been turned off, so you sit and make a plan.
You would obviously then run to your nearest supermarket to stock up on bottled water right?
But everyone else has the same idea, and there isn't enough water for everyone, so you manage to buy a few bags of ice and get out of the store before the fighting and riots start.
You keep checking the news but it's not even mentioned on there, just a throw away comment about 3 million people without water.
And even though the government say that water is on the way, there is a heatwave and you are...just...so...thirsty!
And days...weeks later...there is Still. No. Water!
So what would you do for a sip of water?
Ask someone nicely?
Beg someone?
Lie to someone?
Steal from someone?
Hurt someone?
Kill ..........
This is what our characters have to deal with, and there are a lot of characters, we have 4 main ones, but it also jumps between others so that you can see how the Tap-Out is affecting everyone.
After always having the rest of the neighbourhood laughing at him because of him preparing for an Apocalypse, Kelton is the one having the last laugh as he and his overprotective father sit and drink their water from their self sufficient, no-thanks-I-don't-need-your-electricity-I-have-my-own house.
On the other side of the street however Alyssa and Garrett are not having such a great time, their parents are who-knows-where, and they don't have any water...
Jacqui is a badass, nothing more needs to be said about her, you'll love to hate her, she's a bitch, but she's brilliant!
The "Water Zombies" are just scary, again because it could be any one of us.
I can't tell you how many gallons of water i must have drunk listening to this, it just made me so thirsty, and the thought of not having anything, and how quickly this can escalate made me very uncomfortable.
Neal Shusterman is a master at these sort of stories, Unwind was the first series of his i read, and it soon turned into one of my favourites.
He makes you want to discuss the book, they are fantastic for Book Clubs, because even though they are Dystopian reads, they could actually happen!
The fact that he has written this with his son, and that they are looking to bring this to the big screen brings me all kinds of joy.
🎧🎧 Narration - This was a full cast audio, including narration from both Neal and Jarrod Shusterman, now at the beginning it gives the "This is Audible" section, and says that it is narrated by the authors, i was a bit 😨 about that, because in *most* (not all) cases, authors that narrate their books are a bit 😲 So i was shouting "Noooooo" at my phone.
But i am happy to say that 1. There is a full cast of narrators, and they do it brilliantly, and 2. Neal and Jarrod Shusterman are FANTASTIC narrators!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6 Timeless Beauty Stars
I kept seeing this book pop up everywhere and everyone is loving it, so, even though it is not my usual type of story, i jumped in without reading the blurb.
This book deserves ALL of the hype and then some!!
I cannot recommend this book of perfection enough, honestly, it is just so beautiful.
Evelyn Hugo is an icon to a lot of people, she was the style icon for women and men around the world, Women wanted to look like her, and men wanted to bed her, and lots did.
She was Hollywood's 50's glamour girl, a movie star, a sex symbol - think Marilyn Monroe / Jayne Mansfield / Elizabeth Taylor.
When budding journalist Monique gets a call at work for her to visit Evelyn, well she jumps at the chance just like anyone would.
The request is for Monique... JUST Monique, but why her?
Deciding that she wants Monique to write her memoirs, Evelyn then tells us the story of her rise in Hollywood, and the thing that everyone wants to know, out of her 7 husbands, who was the greatest love of her life?
This gets answered in spades and we learn a hell of a lot about Evelyn, sometimes, not so good things about her.
We learn about her using her strengths *cough* Boobs *cough* to get herself ahead in the business, we learn about her actually falling in love and who with, we learn about an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love.
We learn that, even though Hollywood is this glamorous place that we all seem to view through rose tinted glasses, it actually is a place that strips you of your own self, your heritage, your name, even the people who you are "supposed" to be in love with.
Oh how I cried reading/listening to this, by the time you have read to near the end of the book, Evelyn feels like a real person, i even googled her because i thought that she was an old Hollywood actress (spoiler, she isn't)
🎧🎧 - Narrated by the always wonderful Julia Whelan and 2 new-to-me narrators Alma Cuervo and Robin Miles, this was one of the best books i have listened to in a long long time.
If you really want to read something that is going to become a best BEST seller, and i have absolutely no doubt a movie for sure, then you should pick up this stunning piece of gorgeousness.

I loved this book, what a refreshing change for someone to say "Hey, i like sex, and as long as it is consensual, I'll have lots of it please!"
And gay sex too, oh the horror of it all!!
Jack is the person in this story shouting this, he is gay, and he is "out" loud, and abso-fu*king-lutely proud!
He is at high school, where unfortunately he has to deal with gay shaming, slut shaming, fat shaming, and any other type of shaming you can think of.
His best friends are Jenna, an outspoken blogger, and Ben, a gay, black, fat (his words) fabulous fashion designer.
Jenna talks Jack into writing for her blog, as she wants to help people who have questions about sexuality and sex in general, and are too afraid to ask, they are able to write in anonymously, and Jack answers them VERY truthfully.
Look this book is not going to be for everyone.
One, because is is a book about a gay man having no-strings sex, lots of it, but not as much as the rumour mill at school says.
Two, because Jack is not ashamed of who he is, he's glam, he wears make up, he's opinionated, and he doesn't give one sh*t about what people think about him....until the notes.
The notes that are left in his locker and taped to his door are a knockback for Jack, and we see how he becomes a different person when he trys to NOT be who he is.
I LOVED Jack and his friends, I loved the letters that he wrote to the people who were scared to ask them in public, I mean who *do* you speak to about being a virgin, and a gay virgin at that, who do you ask about how it felt the first time, who do you ask if it hurt? How do you admit that, actually you are not that interested in sex at all?
Jack was very truthful with his answers, and also followed them up with example stories of his own.
"My first time getting it in the butt was kind of weird. I think it’s going to be weird for everyone’s first time, though."
This book pulls no punches, there is sex in it (shock horror) and *GAY* sex at that (put away your pearls mother!) If this type of book offends you, then don't even bother trying to look for it.
I for one, wish that there was someone like Jack in my school, I'm so glad to have met him in this book, and I honestly would tell anyone that had questions about their sexuality or even if they are straight and wanted questions answered to read this book.

⭐⭐⭐·75 Tranquil Stars
If you've ever read a book by this author before your know that she is a slow burner, it's not going to jump into a fast paced story straight away she makes you work for it.
The same can be said for this book we meet the characters one by one starting with Frances.
A once famous now washed up author, who has menopausal symptons and a really bad papercut. She is going to Tranquillum House to get away from it all and especially from a really bad review.
Napoleon and Heather are there along with their daughter Zoe.
Young couple Jessica and Ben are also there.
Lars the divorce lawyer and Tony the ex-sportsman, and also Carmel who is trying to be her better self after being traded in for younger model by her husband.
Nine perfect strangers all there for 10 days to be "A better you"
Run by the Russian health freak Masha and her two side kicks, everyone is giving their own "special" personalised diets and are immediately put onto a vow of Silence.
They are taken for long walks and given massages and also one-to-one therapy with the Tranquillum House workers.
Very slowly you start to see different sides of all of the characters and why they are there, you hear their stories and take a peek into their worlds.
Masha was a fabulous character she was so cleverly written.
It's difficult to tell you a lot about this book without going into spoilers, and it's also really difficult to put this book into a specific genre, it is kinda Romance, kinda Thriller, kinda Who-Done-It kinda Contemporary!
It was a very clever story and getting all of these stories interwoven with each other is an art in itself, and again if you've read any of Liane Moriarty books before you know that she's a master at this.
I'm not sure what didn't really work for me in this book as I said before the characters and the story were brilliant, it just needed a little more oompf for me and unfortunately this time it didn't, but I have read all of her other books and loved them, and you should certainly check her out if you haven't done so far.

I love the fact that the author uses the same narrator every for every single one of her books, she is a fantastic narrator and gives a stellar performance Every. Single. Time.

This was such a fun read I really enjoyed it.
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeton are work colleagues...well I say colleagues, but what I really mean is that they hate each other, not even a little bit, they actually HATE each other in caps!!
They work at a publishing house together, side by side, day in, day out, and the hate fuels both of them to get one up on each other all the time.
Joshua is quiet, moody, sly and wears a god awful mustard shirt on a Thursday, every Thursday, this drives Lucy crazy.
Lucy is nice to everyone, and everyone loves Lucy, but people walk all over her and she lets them, this drives Joshua mad.
Now they are both up for the same promotion and ready to Battle it out.
Because it is a senior position, they know that the loser will probably have to resign because they will not work under the victor.
The games they play against each other are hilarious, we have the Staring Game, the super fun HR Game, and the usual general Hating game.
