Review

Have you ever watched that film called The Prestige with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman?

It’s not really my sort of thing usually but I gave it a go and it is brilliant, if you haven’t seen it I would highly recommend it.

Anyway, this book is kind of like that, in that there are 2 magicians (illusionists) trying to outdo each other in a circus.

There is an challenge between 2 older magicians in that their protégés will be the victor – they will ‘fight’ to the death, however the 2 protégés do not know who the other is ………and they fall in love with each other  dun dun duuunnnnn !”!!!!!!!

This sounds like a brilliant book right?.........................................Wrong !!

The writing in the book is beautiful, and the explanation of everything is wonderful and you are transported to another world, however the book itself is just a little bit mehh.

It didn’t ever seem to really get going and I was so looking forward to this big battle but it just sort of faded to a blip.

I was more interested in the relationship between bailey and poppet to be honest, they seemed to have more of a story even though they were supposed to be in the background.

The love story between Celia and Marcus sort of plodded away and didn’t really break into a run, it was just a slight jog!

Narration from Jim Dale…….. well I was expecting it to be amazing , considering he is Mr Harry Potter (My little boy is currently listening to him reading this and loves him) I was so excited…….lets just say that I will not be borrowing it from him and shall stick with the legend that is Mr Stephen fry.

Gah, i love this series so bad!!

Jake and Casey are just such a wonderful couple to read about.
As usual this book is laugh out loud at points and close to tears in others.

I was so glad that Jake managed to get his Happy Ever After as what he went through when he was young was so sad.

Casey was just as fun as ever, and i want to be part of the family, her mother talking to Luke about his sexual habits is hilarious.

I would suggest that you read all of the books in the series before getting to this one to truly appreciate the awesomeness of this series.

When you read a Lauren Blakely book you always know that you are going to get a good story.

This one was no exception, I love her characters that she writes, especially her females as she makes them so likable.

I love the fact that Lauren released this book on audio first, it just shows how far audios have come :o)

This was a sweet love story between Joy and Griffin.

Meet Joy

Joy starts a brand new job in a new country, she has moved to Paris and cannot wait, the only thing is she doesn't know any French and has to rely on a translator to help her.

June has a passion for smells, and luckily bags herself her dream job working for a fragrance company.

June is a very likable character, she doesn't come across as one of these blushing "oh my" women that you read about sometimes, nope she's an independent woman and she can do it all on her own thank you very much!

Meet Griffin

Griffin is a Brit, working in Paris as a translator.

He is planning to leave in 1 month's time and travel somewhere else, he doesn't like to stay in one place for too long, he has a strong impulse to travel and explore the world (he has a Wanderlust).

He has nearly packed all of his bags ready for his big trip, he just has one more job to do, he is asked to help as a translator for a new person starting a job in a fragrance company.

*********

Ms Blakely has managed to catch the beauty and essence of Paris, the sights and scents of the air were there when i closed my eyes and listened to Grace Grant and Richard Armitage telling me this wonderful romance story.

This is a slow burner guys, friends to lovers, the best kind, prepare to be swooned!

Ok i do love an alpha male douche bag, i can't help it, and Coulton Donovan was one on wheels....literally!

He is a famous Racing driver, and obviously handsome!

With enough sexual tension to make you combust (See what i did there?) [bc:Combust|31314076|Combust|K. Bromberg|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1515175634s/31314076.jpg|51987325]

Rylee and Coulton do have a little bit of a 50 shades vibe to them (she is clumsy and he is very dominant) but that is where the similarities end.

I'm not sure, but i think i can see where the next few books are heading, maybe something with the little boy but i'm not sure.

This looks like this was K. Bromberg's first book I will allow her a BIG pass because her other books are amazing and 5 star all the way make sure to check out her other ones and see the difference in the writing [bc:The Player|30826144|The Player (The Player, #1)|K. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Ripped at the Seams stars!

Alessandra Torre is a go-to 1 click author for me and this book was no exception I loved it every single word.

Imagine if you will, somebody saying to you, I will give you millions, no, billions of dollars would you want it? Of course you would you are not a fool!

What do I need to do would be your question?

"Well you need to be seen with me in public and you need to be seen with me in magazines, oh, and you need to be seen with me on the TV and any public appearances that I do."

"Brilliant what's the catch?"

"No catch really, you will be treated like a king, wined and dined at all of the most famous & expensive restaurants, dressed to the 9s in beautiful fantastic clothes .........oh but you do have to pretend to be gay, like forever!"

For a chance of a billion dollars this is Marcos life.

Avery lives in Detroit she is what you would call a small time crook, she is known and is friendly with some very bad people, however she is not bad herself she's only trying to help others.

Avery was adopted when she was a very small child and eventually moved away from her adoptive parents.

The only thing she has of her father is an old worn photograph, imagine her surprise when she sees her father on the TV when she is in a local bar!

Avery decides to go and find him and here is where the story begins.

Sparks Fly and Seams Rip with this little cracker of a book go buy it!

** thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book this review is my opinion alone and has no bearing on the story**

Ok, lets get this out of the way first.

Question: Did i realise that this book was #3 in a series before i greedily asked for it?

Answer: No, No i did not

Question: Do i have to have read the other 2 to be able to enjoy this one?

Answer: Nope, but it might help as you will have a little background of the characters.

Review.

Ok so going in to this book you firstly have the prologue, this was written in 3rd person and it really was done well.

You know that really uncomfortable feeling where you look around at everyone else to see what they are doing, and they are looking everywhere else but the car crash that is happening in front of you?

Should you stay and watch? Or just slowly back away and leave 2 people to sort out their mess privately? Yep, that feeling.

Lane Warner and Brynn Fox have been friends forever, really, since they were children, but they have always carried a torch for each other, although never really done much about it, well apart from that one time that Lane proposed to her, and she turned him down!

The story moves to duel POV, one chapter each, and i loved being inside their heads and hearing their thoughts, many times i was shouting at my kindle JUST KISS HER DAMMIT!!!

Lane is the baby brother of the family, always trying to make his family proud.

Brynn has had a tough life and has always just wanted to be loved.......by Lane.

With a secondary story intwined in this book, the couple are thrown together to help out a young boy with an awful past.

I really enjoyed this one and will be reading the series from the start to catch up with the other characters in the book.

**Thank you to the author and InkSlinger for providing me with this book for an honest review**

Hmmm is my answer to did you like this one.

It was ok, but could have been a lot better.

The first half was really good, but then then it started to fade by the 50% mark.

Told in alternate POV's this is the story of Baylor and Gavin.
They meet at ULC and become a couple, but a big break up causes them to split up and not see each other again for 8 years.

After they meet back up and the big 'reveal' in unveiled, it all became a bit to sickly sweet for me.

It's a cute story, but I think the big breakup could have been fixed with a good 10 minute chat and then the book would have been cut by 50% 😂
