I say it every time I finish one of these Rock Chick books "This one is my favourite one of the series! "
This book is about Kai "Mace" Mason and his story, and by god what a story this one was!!
Stella is the lead singer and guitarist of a local band called The Blue Moon Gypsies, and she is also a rock chick LITERALLY!!
Stella and Mace used to be a "thing" but he walked away from her and she has never really gotten over it, she has thrown herself into her music and has become the backbone of them, any problems that the guy have, they call Stella even if it is in the middle of the night!
That is exactly what happens to Stella one night when one of her band members call to tell her that his girlfriend has OD'd. Stella gets into the car and goes to the house to help, only to find that she is actually dead, after that she promptly gets shot at!!
Queue the Hot Bunch to the rescue, including Mace!!
I LOVED this book so much, and because of Stella being in a band it tells you her set lists, and I had a little listen .........BIG MISTAKE!! "And So It Goes" by Billy Joel was on there, I hadn't heard it before, and I bawled like a baby!!

What can I say about this book??
I love horror books, I was a mahoosive Stephen King fan when I was younger, and literally hoovered up anything he wrote, also James Herbert and Dean Koontz, so I have read my fair share of yeuch throughout the years. ........oh but this book!!!
Stephen King reviewed this on GR and said that it scared the shit out of him, that means you have to read it right??
I can safely say that this is the only book that has EVER made me gag!
I was listening to it on audio and I had to take my earphones out as I thought I was going to hurl lol.
On an island just off of Canada a scout troop go to spend a weekend there, as they do every year, with no technology or phones allowed, they go to have a great time, apart from this time a man shows up out of nowhere, he is desperately hungry, and I mean HUNGRY, to the point that he starts eating the chair!!
Scout Master Tim helps him inside the cabin they stay in as he knows a bit of first aid and he can clearly see that the man is ill, but he doesn't know how ill ........until he sees something moving in the man's stomach!
A stomach churning - nearly 4☆ read

This is my 1st Jodi Picoult book so i can not compare it to any of her others, my closest encounter is My Sisters Keeper but I watched the movie and have been told numerous times that the ending is completely different....... which is a bit weird, but anyway I digress.
This book is wonderfully written, beautifully told and magically narrated.
Sage works in a bakery, in the back, at night so no one can see her. Her reason is because she has a large scar on her face that she got from being in an accident, she doesn't like to be seen.
She strikes up an unlikely friendship with an old gentleman called Josef and talk about things over coffee and bread rolls.
Josef then asks her to help him die after he admits to her that he was an SS officer at Auschwitz and this is what he deserves.
The book is told parallel to her grandmother Minkas story, she was also at Auschwitz but as a POW !
I absolutely loved this book and when on audio it makes everything so real, the descriptions are so lifelike, I could almost taste the bread that Sage made and almost smell the death that is explained by Minka.
This is a book that makes you wonder what you would do in this situation.
The harrowing content is something that needs to be read so that it never gets forgotten and NEVER happens again!
