I sat up until 1.30 this morning reading this, I really enjoyed it and had to find out what happened with Kacey and Trent, I may have read too many of these sort of books though as i guessed the 'twist' right from the start.
I enjoyed reading it though and will read the 2nd one in the series.

***Shaking her head***

Susan, Susan, Susan ………… I am so disappointed with you…you lulled me into a false sense of security with your series, and then BAM!! You ruined it with this last bag of shite!!!!

[b:Life as we knew it|17979015|Life As We Knew It|Peter Dickinson|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-673c574e721a5d4c3fd6e25b74d42bf2.png|25208033] was my first introduction into audiobooks AND YA books and will always hold a special place in my heart……….YES the narrator was whiney……..YES the story was a bit “out there” but wow what a story, and I’m not the only one, it seems that everyone that reads the 1st one loves it!!

Then came book 2…….nowhere as good as book 1 but took us into a different POV of Alex and I liked it as we found out what happened to other people as opposed to just Miranda.

Book 3 ….hmmmm… The whole Alex / Miranda love thing didn’t really work for me and I didn’t enjoy it that much, however, again, it let me a little more into the family, and that’s where I felt safe and loved.

That leads me to book 4 ……….Sigh..

4 years have passed since book 1 and the whole meteor / moon thing and there is now a new world, this story is about John.

Now if you can remember back John was Miranda’s younger brother, (remember the little cute one??)

John is now not a cute little boy……….John is a complete DICK!!!!

Now I’m not being harsh, read the other reviews if you don’t believe me!!!

John has grown up with his mother and his sister literally starving with absolutely nothing and now has EVERYTHING!

The reason for this………..The Enclave…….”The What?” I hear you say……….have a seat and I will explain it to you.

NOW, the world as we knew it has now turned into 2 different sections, the people who have everything and are wealthy and rich, these are the people that “make a difference” like doctors/nurses and scientists……..I can sort of see why they would be top ranked as they do save lives, however they are now top class citizens and look down on everyone.

The “other” people are not doing nothing, in fact they do pretty much everything as they are normal workers, you know, like cleaners or manual labourers and they are called “Grubs” a nice word that the “Clavers” use for them, the grubs have NOTHING ….they have shitty houses, shitty food and shitty lives.

They work for the Clavers doing the mundane jobs like cleaning for the Clavers as they are all so fucking busy with their special work that they are doing, they do not think anything of killing, maiming oh yeah and even RAPING girls, it’s normal for a Claver!!!!

John lives within the Clavers, although he is not a scientist or a doctor or even a brain surgeon, oh no John is something much more important, I mean when we are talking about a class system what is the first thing that came into you mind???? Soccer right???? Yep I’m not even joking SOCCER!!!!!! John is a “Slip” meaning that he has managed to slip into the top claver ranking as he is a good football player ………BOLLOCKS!

Lisa (the stepmother, remember her?) She runs the company that provides the grubs for domestic cleaning, oh yeah and get this Miranda, her mother Alex etc are all Grubs, and does John help them? Does he sneak them in food as he has so much?? Does he give them a little of his Oh so much money?? Does He Hell !! WHY??? BECAUSE JOHN IS A PIG!!!!!

Oh yes, Our young cute little John is an absolute Douchebag, thinking nothing of bossing the cleaner around, slapping her around a bit and also getting a bit of skirt whenever HE wants it, never mind if the girl doesn’t, after all they are only grubs right??? They should be grateful that he even bothers talking to them, and some of them are…. You can buy a girl now with a piece of soap!!

The usual YA instalove was in here but it was a ridiculous story, I mean if I had admitted to you that I had committed murder and rape and possibly burned down a house or 2 would you even look at him???? OF COURSE YOU WOULD!!! You may be able to “fix” him, or change him …….pahhhhh!

A completely and utterly spoiled series - I’m gutted!

Just finished, wow ............... I can't speak yet.
I need to take it all in.

6 hrs later. ...

It's taken me a while to write a review on this book as I'm not sure how to.

It is pretty much what has already been said about it.

For the first 3/4 of the book I had absolutely no idea what was going on, who was who, and what they had to do with each other. And then all of a sudden BAM it hits you.

It literally has you going NOOO hang on a minute ...........

My father took one hundred and thirty-two minutes to die.
I counted.
It happened on the Jellicoe Road. The prettiest road I’d ever seen.

I mean you have to read it just because of that right.

By the end I was crying, not ugly crying like I did in TFIOS but tears were shed, and that is what makes a great book!

So read this book, suck it up and keep going with it, even if you think as I did 'I don't care how bloody brilliant it's supposed to be, I'm adding it to my DNF pile' you should not miss this beautifully crafted and wonderful gift.

4•5 ☆

To bake this YA cake you will need:

1 x kickass heroine .....Saba
1 x annoying little sister.......Emmy
1 x douchebag/swoonsome character. ....Jack
1 x evil nasty bitch. .....Miz Pinch
1 x Kidnapped twin brother

Mix these together in a big pot, wen uve got yer micksture rite, then take a big handful of uver stuf to thro in the bowl.

We at YA bakery recommend:
A small scoop of cage fighting
A collection of badass girls called Free Hawks
A nearly human Crow called Nero
Giant Worms

Giv um a gud ol shake an leeve it ta bake ova the fire for 11 owers, you will end up with a massive kicking badass bitch of a book.

Patrick Ness fans will rekonize the writing style from the Walking Chaos trilogy (the best ever by the way) so will be okay with it, others may struggle with it, but stick with it, you'll forget after a while and it will flow nicely.

I will be reading the next book very soon as I really enjoyed this book.

Shane 'Bax' Baxter is a bad boy, a real bad boy not one of these arty farty YA oh I'm bad because of blah blah blah, he is just BAD, and I LOVED HIM!!

He has been out of prison for a few days and is trying to find his friend, his best friend, who he is convinced set him up.

Bax comes from the wrong side of the tracks and knows how to look after himself, if you get in his way he will fu@k you up, big time.

He meets Dovie, who although has had the same bringing up as Bax wants to make something of herself and get out of "The Point" where they all live.

They meet and sparks fly, literally, from a tazer gun!!

I liked this story in that Dovie brings out he best in Bax, he is never going to stop being bad, but she makes him also know that he is capable of being good, in more ways than one!!

This was a disappointing read, i was expecting so much more !!!

Sex scenes were ok, but lots of hawt sex doesn't make a great book right?

Layana is a rich girl who has been brought up "properly" by her mother, Layana doesn't want to be a perfect prim so she starts doing everything she shouldn't.
She meets super famous Brent who is also rich but makes her feel special, queue lots of sex!

Then we have Lee, he is not rich, he is a nobody, a no-one, queue lots of sex!

Layana is having sex with both of these men, however there is a "twist" to this story **eye roll**

I have to say that i didn't work out the twist until near the end, however when i did it wasn't as much of a shock as it should have been.

Some of the characters could have had so much more to do in the story, especially Jillian, but it didn't go anywhere and still left me with questions about her at the end of the book.

A not so brilliant 2.5 *
