An average sci-fi adventure that did little to stand out. Forgettable but solid.

As much as I love reading about an ambitious Muslim Sudanese Australian protagonist tackling their school's racism and pursuing their interest in STEM, the writing was truly atrocious.

The mix of horror and Norse mythology made such an intense, spooky atmosphere, I did not want to put the book down. I loved Martha's character development, and her relationship with Stig was realistic and grounded in a way we don't often get to see in YA. Such an underrated series.

Abida Jaigirdar is officially a favourite author. Her characterisation is honest and raw. She lets her teenagers actually be teens, in all their messy glory. The family dynamics, especially Nishat & Priti's relationship, were just what I wanted. Although I didn't ship the main couple as much as I wanted to, the discussions of cultural appropriation were just *chef's kiss*

Hani & Ishi singlehandedly saved me from a two-month-long reading slump. I could not have adored this more if I tried.

My least favourite of the series so far. It was interesting to learn more about Arthur's daughter, Lucinda, but it failed to keep my attention.

Holly Black, queen of fae lore. I could read a hundred series by her and never tire of the way she twists mythology to create such intricate worlds.
