3.5 or 4 stars… I can’t really pin down how I felt about this book. Sometimes I liked it and sometimes the characters annoyed me so much that I wanted to quit reading it.  It also dragged a lot. It’s less than 300 pages, but it took me 5 days to read. If you’re interested in a great sapphic book with Catholicism (and a happy ending), I would recommend Her Name In The Sky. 

Love Mary Oliver, but definitely could’ve done without the story of the turtle eggs. 

I almost quit reading this book right before the halfway point because I wasn’t really connecting with the characters or their relationship (it seemed a little quick, I don’t really enjoy insta-love), but I love most of Cat Sebastian’s books, so I stuck with this one and ended up really enjoying it. 

I typically love Cat Sebastian’s books, and I can’t believe I’m rating one so low (I’ve read 12 of her other books and I’ve given them all 4-5 stars) but I felt like the romance in this one was just way too rushed and flat. I needed more of the main characters actually interacting and connecting with each other, which is something the author does really well in her newer books. 

I could’ve done with less lying, self sabotage, and miscommunication in this book, so you would think I would give it a lower rating based on those complaints. But it’s also so warm and beautifully written, and there are a lot of fun/funny moments, so I can forgive some of its faults. 

I love these characters. The found family trope never misses.
