One of the most mediocre books I’ve ever read. Torn between a 2 and a 2.5. This books makes me think I could successfully be an author.
All of the tropes and character types used were very by the book, there was just nothing particularly likable. And holy smokes was this book way too long. A lot could’ve been cut.
At the end of the day I did read it quick enough and there were some very cute moments. It’s not that I hated it but there are an endless number of way better romance novels.
You’d probably love this if you were in high school or new to the genre (not an insult).

Definitely a lot darker and more series than the previous book, but that’s war for ya. This book had such high stakes.
Our dear Breshen and Ildiko’s relationship was tested, but their love for one another never wavered. One of my favorite book couples.

This book is so freaking SWEET! Breshen and Ildiko are so adorable. It’s so utterly hilarious they’re so deeply disturbed by each other appearance’s upon first meeting. Lots of laughs in this book.
I love that from the very beginning they respected one another and built a really strong friendship, that grew into such a wholesome and sincere romantic love. Had my kicking my feet and giggling.

Not that Emily Henry needs me to champion her books but I feel like this book is so slept on! Definitely my favorite of her lineup.
I LOVED Nora and Charlie. I loved that Nora is the anti-hero of the typically Hallmark-style FMC. I loved the relationship between the two sisters. I loved that Nora and Charlie had legitimate reasons to not date. I loved that Nora and Charlie have no desire for children.
I think all of Henry’s books are classified as rom coms but this one is definitely the funniest and has the lightest subject matter.

I truly don’t know how to rate this book.
On one hand, I did truly love both of the main characters and I thought their relationship was very cute.
On the other hand, I don’t know how much of the plot held up. In what world would Celine be kicked of the Exploers? Because she was distracted by a legitimate life event? This work was very pro-capitalism, in the sense that you’re expected to put literally every aspect of your life behind work/professional obligations.
On the same coin, what did Brad to do deserve winning the scholarship? As much as we’re lectured about how nuanced the grading is, it does seem like it comes down to who found the most golden compasses.
Ultimately, I feel like Brad was rewarded and Celine was punished for a decision that HE ultimately made. Celine should not be blamed for his reaction to something she said.

DNF after the first chapter. I’m not enjoying the writing style. I also think her behavior towards her boyfriend of 5 years was just odd.

Completely average. There was potential but it definitely needed more meat on its bones.
I don’t have anything particularly bad to say, but nothing hooked me enough to ever recommend it.

Another winner from Kimberly Lemming! The world she builds is so magical and fun (and a little violent which I also find to be fun). These books are so sexy and funny.
I do feel Dante was a little dismissive of Cherry’s feelings at times, but that’s probably because I’m not personally into the whole “women are so adorable when they’re angry” concept. He’s still super sweet and likable MMC.

A very engaging read. Some twists I definitely did not see coming and it’s pretty rare to surprise me now. I know some people felt like a certain character’s toward the end was out of character, but I disagree. I think their were several lines throughout the book that supported the turn of attitude.

An incredible memoir about grief and growing up mixed in America. A bit too wordy at times. Overall I really appreciate Michelle’s honesty with her ugly thoughts and the ugly truth of death.
