I can put up with a lot. And I put up with Katie thinking that Cassidy would be prettier if she wore a dress, and bemoaning how Cassidy is wearing a pantsuit (women wear them all the time. You can too if you want. Get over yourself). And I ignored how Cassidy was this huge stereotype for lesbians (and how Katie is the other end of that stereotype) and how her relationship with Gina makes me uneasy. My breaking point was Katie justifying that she wasn’t a lipstick lesbian - she was just a “normal girl”. Nope. Nope nope nope. I’m out. Not enough hours in my day to read this homophobic shit.

I’m starting a new thing where I don’t finish books that I’m not enjoying. The dialogue here was formulaic, the characters flat, and this was just overall painful to read. I ended this on a scene where the LI was shooting down the MC’s advances for being a friend of his son, which I feel like is an appropriate ending to this story.

I should have DNFed this long before I actually did, with all the misogyny and sexual harassment jokes. Not to mention the fact that this office building exists in an alternate reality. But now I’m bored of watching dumpster fires and am ready to move on with my life, please and thank you.

They got together at 45%, not really but enough where I don’t have any more desire to continue with the book.
