It's immensely satisfying when a book delivers exactly what you were hoping for. I was really hoping to see Raven come into her own and level the playing field more between her and Cole and this addition to the series was precisely what I was hoping for. Raven still has much to learn but she takes some big bada*s strides in the right direction here.

All the things I've mentioned in reviews of the previous two books still hold true for this one. These books are quick fun reads that pull you in quickly and linger in a good way after the last page.

I enjoyed every minute of this. I don't think I've previously highlighted how much the side characters, namely Raven's entirely family (even the chosen. non-blood relations) enrich this story. They are all interesting in their own right and tbh I'd absolutely love to see many of them get their own books down the line! At this point I'd excitedly read a book about Pepe in a heartbeat lol. It's officially field of dreams level, if she writes it I will come. McKenzie has created a powerhouse here and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I've been eagerly awaiting this book since the minute I finished The Rogue King! While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think Kasia stole the show in a lot of ways in the first book and Skylar was a bit more enigmatic and more standoffish in this one so it made it harder to connect. It also made the connection between Skylar and Landon a bit more fickle. The chemistry was there but there was less longing and more of them scrambling to push back apart from each other. It was kinda the opposite of what I felt in The Rogue King, I was more into Kasia and in The Blood King, Landon was the beacon for me. His role and his drive to protect and do right by his people was admirable and made him more accessible. Undoubtedly they make a good pair though. He clearly needed a strong match and Skylar was definitely that.
 
This sequel hit every other key perfectly for me. It enriched the already lavish world, the overall plot furthered, the dragon politics raged on, characters we've previously seen were expanded on, and we meet some new ones with sure to be interesting roles in the coming novels. I have to say I'm completely fascinated with Meira and what she has been up to. I'm hoping to see a bit more of the gargoyles she's been hanging around with in the next book! Also, very curious about the Black Clan dragons and how that'll all play out. Each addition to the series only makes me want more and more!

Gahhh this book was awesome! It was exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. I was coming off a high from another fabulous read and struggling to get into anything following that book and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this one and took a break from the story I was having trouble getting into.

I have always been fascinated with mythology and the stories of Hades and Persephone have always been kind of spellbinding. I really enjoyed how this author took these myths and made this story her own. Honestly, I was enthralled. It sucked me right in and I absolutely HAD TO finish it today before I did anything else. Any book that keeps me under that spell is deserving of the highest rating from me. Afterwards I immediately purchased everything else I could find by St. Clair. I am beyond excited to see how Hades and Persephone's story continues! I am dying to know what happens next.

This was phenomenal! The characters, the plot, the world building, everything was on point. It is dark and twisty and steamy and sweet and horrifying and amazing. By the time I was halfway through it I purchased the following two books because I knew I'd want to continue this tale.

I am officially OBSESSED with this series. I legit don't want it to end. I loved getting to see so much of the Otherworld in this one. Most especially another court besides Night. Temper joining the mix was so fun too, and her entrance was EPIC. I would not mind a Temper book in the future...just sayin' girl has a lot going on and I want to know more. Loved some of the twists in this one! It wasn't exactly what I was expecting (which I always love being surprised) but I'm still hanging out for a chance that what I was originally thinking could still be true in the end. I'm naturally jumping right into the next book but I'm going to try my best to not rip through that one in a day and savor it a little.

Fabulous end to a magnificent series! Although I'm so so sad to say goodbye, it truly was a captivating read and a perfect ending. I am still holding out hope that there will be more books set in this fantastic world *cough Temper cough*.

Fable was exactly what I didnt even know that I needed. I've been struggling to connect with YA for awhile now. I think I was just missing the right kind of YA. The kind that isn't defined or constrained by it. This was escapism at its finest. Young's writing has a way of sweeping you away right along with the characters. You feel as though you are deep diving side by side with Fable the whole wild journey. And what a turbulent journey this is!
 
Not only was this story incredibly atmospheric but the characters were very well written too. This ragtag crew of Waterside strays aboard the Marigold became the family you choose, which sometimes means even more than the one you're given. I feel like we've only scraped the surface of their uncharted depth and I look forward to discovering more hidden treasures there. The ending was quite explosive. I already knew I'd want more of this exquisite world, but those last few pages made me hurt for it. Marvelous beginning to an epic tale!

Unfortunately this one just didn't grab me fully. It was interesting enough, it just felt like most of the time I was really waiting to get to something bigger like some answers, or strong emotions, some flirting, a twist, a big reveal etc. Something(s) that never came about even after finishing. I am walking away with more questions than I had before. I love mystery but it felt to me this book was lacking some crucial elements, which I'm sure will be in the following book I feel I needed more to want to continue on. Not for me, especially with my massive TBR staring me down.
