Fucking shit fuck.
This comic has literally everything you want and more.
You want the most diverse cast in literature? We got you.
You want laser battles and gore? Say no more fam.
You want full panels of veiny robot cock? You’re welcome.
This is the collected edition of the full saga series as of this point and I am waited with baited breath for Fiona staples and Brian k Vaughn to take $4 out of my bank account every week again.

I skipped past most of the lyrics because of course, I already knew them, but still, utterly beautiful. I live the rawness of Welch’s poetry. While her lyrics and music are ethereal and faelike, the poetry and sermons are much grittier and more plain spoken. Two sides of a very talented artist.

This guy tried to say Ibsen stole his female characters? Ibsen at least liked women. Read the Neil LaBute adaptation and this play is nonsensical in the Jazz Age. Worse than the characters being vile, they didn’t make any sense. No ones motivations were actually clear at all. Everyone goes from being a pure villain to a pure saint in a matter of seconds.

I love Lindsay Ellis, and it is very well written. I just don’t like sci-fi. If you do like sci-fi though I think you’ll dig this.

EDIT: Damn, I’m glad I gave this book another shot. I just had to get past some exposition about aliens I didn’t particularly care about and then the ball really got rolling.

I’ve already put in my preorder for book two and I’m damn excited for where this story goes.

It’s truly baffling that I couldn’t get into this novel since I love the story, the characters, and every adaptation of it I’ve seen. Perhaps the text is just too archaic for me. I’ll obviously give this one another try someday but I simply couldn’t keep reading. My eyes were swimming, I was constantly spacing out.

This broke me out of my reading slump. Full review to come.
