The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet is going to live in my head rent-free for a long, long time. Becky Chambers has managed to create something really special here and I'm deeply, bone-achingly sad that this is not the actual world we live in. 

This book was incredible, full of love and kindness, and somehow felt like a warm hug and a solid punch to the gut at the same time. I loved every single second of it. 💙

230 pages in and I'm still not really invested in the characters. Also, maybe Viking stories aren't really my thing? 
I was really looking forward to this book. Maybe I'll come back to it later, but it's not doing much for me right now.

Easily a new favourite. Bold, unexpected writing choices, interesting character dynamics, love how grounded the world-building was. You’ve got this magic system that doesn’t conveniently solve all problems (and even goes so far as to cause major ones). Love that the conflict had constraints (impact on commerce, foreign relations, etc.) and it wasn’t just this glorified clan war. Can't wait to see how this escalates in the next book!

Reading this was like taking a sledgehammer to my heart, and I mean that in the best possible way.
