No. No no no.
Serves me right for being misled by pretty tumblr graphics.
I am mentally and physically exhausted by this you-owe-it-to-me-to-tell-me trope. And this whole pining for someone unattainable, with the subsequent angst, guilt, and drama that accompanies it.
Exhausted.
I was verging on a book slump, and thought - hey. A book about music, friendship, and road trips. Winning combination, that. Can't go wrong, right?
Ah, but the clichés.
And ten pages in, I thought, "Uh oh. I can tell where this is going."
But I made a promise to myself to read non-judgementally this year. And I wanted to stand by that promise. So I tried.
Unfortunately, though. This is not a book for me. Sometimes instincts are not a bad thing.
Sidenote: Can we please have a book about friends where they STAY friends? Please? Please? Is that really such a hard thing to ask for?
