Fun characters who could’ve done a lot more a lot faster
Personal favourite Emily Henry book
Ok sure it’s fascinating but I’m still scarred for life
Idea was cool, execution was depressingly poor
Bizarre and beautiful and exactly what everyone needs. Not even close to what I was expecting, and everything I didn’t know I wanted to read.
Finished with a happy heart. Wonderful and complex characters, just smiled the whole way through
A magnificent book, astutely weaving a vibrant story of the world’s infinite resource of language together with the crushing effects of the British empire.
In terms of literary skill and the quality of the writing, this was phenomenal. In terms of enjoyment, it was also phenomenal- darkly sarcastic and genuinely funny
In comparison to Tender is the Flesh (my other cannibal read of this year) this read more like the ethical version of cannibalism
