Wasn’t the passionate love story I was expecting? Rather than a wild romance between Cathy and Heathcliff I got.. not that?

It was an easy read classic compared to others and I loved how the story was narrated through the Housemaid.

Probably one of my preferred classics but also not an enthralling story.

This was such a tricky rating to give!

I would’ve given it 3 but it’s just so clever and I love seeing all the minuscule bits of the story fall into place. One of those incredible books where you know each line is vitally important you just can’t see how yet.

I would’ve given it 5 but I’m not a fan of the brutal style of writing. The swearing and other unsavoury aspects detracted from the plot’s brilliance (for me personally!) although I know for others, it would be what made the book their favourite!

Hence the 4 stars, I was very impressed and glad I decided to reread but the style of the book just didn’t quite suit me.

For once I watched the series before I read the book and they were so similar I could picture the scenes in my head!

Lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed the comedic footnotes that took you off of the course of the plot in a Lemony Snicket way.

Aziriphale and Crowley are such fantastic characters and the book is a very quotable one. I particularly loved how in the book we got more information on Adam’s relationship with his friends and how he lead the group.

A sweet story of magical realism with delicious foods and flavours woven all the way through.

Loved the descriptions of the food of course- all sounded amazing. However the style of writing and assortment of characters were not well suited to me. It was enjoyable but not something I’d pick up again!

So I didn’t hate it! But I didn’t love it either. I know full well that epic fantasy is not my favourite genre but I really wanted to read this after picking it up and not finishing it 6 years ago.
I listened to it as an audio book in the hope that this would help me to appreciate it more rather than skimming pages if I got bored. I’d say I enjoyed the first half before slowly losing interest towards the end (the battles don’t hold much excitement for me). My favourite character was Bilbo (how could it not be- such a sassy hobbit) and I thought Gandalf would play a bigger part in the story but maybe I’m confusing it with LOTR.
Very proud of myself for having finished it :)

Was a favourite of mine for a while a couple of years ago- I think it raises important issues of ableism in society and how we need to make big changes to the way we make places accessible.

Also she seemed so grown up when I first read this- but she’s only 15??

Jesse was one of my first fictional crushes and I still stand by that

AMAZING! I'm always blown away by the thought that must've gone into Atwood's books. It's a fictional retelling of the life story of Grace Marks the convicted murderess living in Canada in the 1800s. Throughout the story, my opinion on Grace changed over and over again as I learnt more about her. Even by the time I reached the end, I hadn't made up my mind whether I thought she was innocent or not. I also am continuing to love how Margaret Atwood does away with speechmarks- for me it helps the writing flow much better and it blurs the line between thought and speech.

A very sweet story with gorgeous illustrations- each character was given so much detail! Saw that this was marked as a queer fairytale retelling which I would disagree with. It was a version of Sleeping Beauty where Snow White is the knight who comes along to rescue her. Plot wise it was lacking, but as a pretty short story it gets full marks.

My favourite book to binge read in a day ❤️

Cath and Levi hold a really special place in my heart because Fangirl was the first book where I found a shared love of the fandoms I love so much.

As Cath explains to Levi how important the fandom is to her, I felt myself represented.
“You can stay in this world, the world you love, as long as you want”
It’s such a sweet story full of funny, disaster characters and I can already tell it won’t be long before I’m re reading yet again!
