As a kid, I would always power through books to finish them. I didn’t believe in not finishing a book. And as an adult, I’m trying to work on that. So here we are. My first DNF in who knows how long. 

I can’t quite put my finger on why I couldn’t get into this book. I worked on it for a week (which for me is ages) and still only made it to Chapter 13 (page 69). The writing is from the point of view of Pheobe and frankly she just irritates me. It reads like a man’s bad impression of what a women thinks and how she acts, complete with overreactions, breaking into tears at any given moment, giving a man she hired a bl*w job after meeting him 3 times, and spending the rest of the time moping around with no idea of what to do with herself. 

The book is slow moving, with almost no plot at this point, and there’s nothing in the book that makes me want to continue reading.
