I had a visceral reaction to this book. I finished the last page about ten minutes ago, and I'm seated in our 80 degree sun porch, and I have the chills. I am actually cold and quivering at the skin level.

Just finished, and...

here I am, reading in bed. At the line "Worst Beckett play ever", I laughed so hard that my CPAP mask briefly levitated off of my face. Bravo, Patton, you got me.

Body horror at its best

Are we just the sum of our physicality? Are we more? And is that physical barrier between what is me and the rest of the world breachable? Should it be?

"Thank you for your childhood."

This book is on the list of best books I have ever read--perhaps in the top ten, or even top five. I read it in one exquisite, gasping, weeping session.

Good, but...

Repetitive, sharing the same fact again often in the following sentence. Informative, organized book that just needs some editorial housekeeping.

This book broke my heart...in the most enjoyable manner possible.

Just as dizzingly breathtaking the second time 'round.

Fabulous, disturbing, magnificent.
