"I know I should look away, but I don’t. I can’t. My mouth practically waters at the sight of her soft stomach and full breasts."

The best part of this book is the end.... And by end I mean literally the whole book because I devoured it so fast. The WHOLE book is spicy. 5 peppers spicy. I LOVE how Emily writes a nervous but strong FMC and a believable act of love (being vague here so I can post with no spoilers) while also writing her as a relatable plus size character.

Second Read because it released on Audiobook!!!!
Jack Hesperus and Kingsley Rose are great! I adore them both and love how they bring the characters to life.

👀Tropes: Dark Romance (really dark) with revenge, sex with interesting objects, and much much more.

☠️CW: Straight from author's website - Warning: This is a dark romance that contains rape, graphic violence and sexual assault, explicit sexual situations, strong language, human trafficking, PTSD, and kinks such as degradation, knife play, blood play, and somnophilia.

📚Read Method: Physical book, Kindle eBook, Audible

📕Review: Beginning of book notes... "everything hurts". Every time I read this, I just hurt, even though I know the ending. HD Carlton has a way of writing heartbreak that I will never understand. She throws in these little nibbles of happiness/humor when all things are going to shit. Like chapter 13
Mama T and Z sitting eating chocolate chip cookies when he meets the Basilisk Brothers. It's a small win when this book can make me smile when it's so sad.

Beware of Chapter
18. It will literally break you. and Chapter 22 will tape you back together.

This fractured fairy tale is the first one I have read of this genre. I have read many 18+ novels, but this one... wooooo... I literally couldn't put it down. I stayed up way past my bedtime and finished this in two days. There are happy moments, sad moments, angry moments. I loved how many character names I recognized, but had to figure out their story in this world and how they related to the original fairy tale. I can't wait to read more by Emily McIntire and more fractured fairy tales.
