Rumiko Takahashi is one of the most popular manga writers/artists in Japan. She's very talented with dialogue, artwork, and storytelling in general. But sometimes while there are amazing manga series she has created, there will be some less received than others. That doesn't mean they are bad it just means they're not as good. So for example, let's talk about Ranma 1/2.
.
.
Ranma 1/2 is a comedy that shows the day to day life of Ranma Saotomi who changes into a girl when splashed with cold water. And it also deals with his reluctant betrothal with Akane Tendo who doesn't want to marry him either. The series is hilarious, the situations the characters find themselves in are a lot of fun to read. It's also well written and translated. And the art is amazing, which is what I expect from Rumiko Takahashi.
.
.
Now I did say that the situations the characters find themselves in is a lot of fun to read. But there are a few times the same situation is repeated but minor details are changed to make it seem different. So after a while it does get repetitive, but there are enough new situations in between for the characters to face that I could swallow my annoyance down and read through it. But by so many volumes ahead it did begin to bother me.

Ranma 1/2 is very episodic, it goes with the comedic premise and then in any direction it wants with the characters controlling the story. If you like character driven stories, you'd probably really like Ranma 1/2. But if you're going into this manga expecting a wonderfully plot driven story then you're going to be disappointed. I think it's a fun manga, despite the repetition leaving some volumes stale sometimes. It's not perfect but if you're looking for a manga to cheer you up after a bad day, this one would absolutely do it.
