“Ruin is more than death and destruction. It is peace with these things.”
You have no idea how tempted I am to re-read all 6 mistborn books again right after reading this (which is how many hundreds of pages each)

MISTBORN IS TRULY FANTASY ROYALTY !!
Sanderson has created a beautiful complex world that just gets even more interesting after every story. I never feel like I’m done reading when I finish one of his books. In Kelsier’s words: There is always another secret
I absolutely love the dynamic of Wax, Wayne, Steris, Marasi, and !!!!
I SHIP WAX AND STERIS, no one can fight me. My favorite aspect of the romance genre in Sanderson’s books is that it’s practically an under layer. The plot and the character relationships are already so well written to begin with. The romantic relationships just give it that extra touch to make you feel fuzzy inside without it being forced.
Similar to something I said before: this is not Elend and Vin and The Final Empire... but I have no regrets reading this series. It’s just different. But it still had the Mistborn element to it. Reading this trilogy felt like I was in on a secret that the characters themselves didn’t know about.
I don’t really have a favorite Mistborn book because they all have their different quirks and reason why I love each one so much.
In terms of plot, I still prefer the original trilogy since it was much harder for me to solve the mystery but, nevertheless, it was not a hindrance to my enjoyment.
I was in love with everything and all the parallelisms to the original trilogy made me fangirl and internally scream.
Sanderson did not end the Mistborn world with this book... in fact he just opened it up even more. Mistborn will always have a special place in my heart.

*constantly having to keep reminding myself that 3 stars is not a bad rating*
I'm in love with the illustrations and the aesthetic. It's a fun, and quick read that deals with serious topics that are easily consumed and I would recommend it for that. I really enjoyed the story telling style and the way the graphic novel was illustrated. I really flew through this in one sitting.
I just feel like the characters weren't built up enough and as a reader, you're just kind of thrown into the middle of the situation. There were a lot of plot points that I feel like weren't discussed enough or given the proper attention-- 80% of the book basically shows how bad of a girlfriend Laura Dean is and I get that that's the point of this contemporary graphic novel because it's is about being able to acknowledge and let go of toxic relationships...
it just didn't leave me satisfied enough. While I appreciated what the story wanted to say, seeing that toxic relationship play out for the most part of the story without having enough parts to heal the heaviness I felt from that toxic relationship, was not fulfilling for me. I wish there was more built up and that I was more attached to the characters for what they are rather than having to relate them to my personal experiences to be able to understand the book (this is more of my personal taste when it comes to literature).
But I still think it was highly enjoyable and I was intrigued. I would still definitely recommend this, especially if you're looking for a quick read that packs a lot of messages while serving with those aesthetics.

Spoiler
Abortion, Cheating, Emesis (mentioned), Relationship with a minor, Underage drinking
I was led to believe that this would have strong female friendships at the forefront and I'm just a bit disappointed that it was present for less than 1/8 of the story. The premise of this book lasted the first few pages and turned into a different plot entirely.

There is a korean and african-american male lead but I don't think his heritages played any significant part aside from exociting asian features.
The office romance was kinda cute but it went to the point that our main girl actually said that she fantasizes about all of her co-workers and that just doesn’t sit right with me??
I do think the conflict is pretty unique but I don't think it was executed in the most interesting manner and it lacked significant built up. The “steamy” scenes felt so awkward and I was just disappointed by the lack of female friendship in the plot. Even though I think certain aspects of the story are fun, I don't think it was tied together that well if we're talking about technicalities.
Everything wraps up cleanly (maybe a little too clean) with no real consequences I feel like, so if you just wanted something quick and fun, you would enjoy this. This was a light read though and it was what I was looking for as a fantasy palette cleanser. I just really wished the female friendships held more substance and was more developed.

“Who are you?”
“Gu Yena’s daughter.”
“And what does that make you?”
“Smart.”
“And?”
“Beautiful.”
“And?”
“Strong.”
“And loved.”
The tears flowed
"Without him, I am alone.”
I so so did not expect this!! I think through most of the book I was just a mumbling, crying, laughing mess. This reminded me so much of ACOMAF love story and Shadowhunters heart wrenching writing style.
Raffe is definitely my new fictional boyfriend. I'm not exactly sure what were my problems with the book or if i even had any but right now (i just finished the book about a minute ago) the high of the book is covering all that up.
I had a good feeling about this from the start and i am so glad that i was not disappointed.
NOW HERE I GO TO DESTROY MY HEART IN THE NEXT BOOK!!!

It's a really good story in general but I feel as if she could have talked about the other characters more and truly make us fall in love with each one of them instead of just St. Clair and Anna. I also feel as if there could have been more to the story and I was looking for more originality in the story.
this was definitely better than I expected after reading the the first book :))
it had more of a plot to it and I actually enjoyed the story more. the other characters could have been explained a lot more rather than just solely focusing on the two main characters and just expecting us to care for all the others. I feel like there should be a build up in some way.

“It didn’t feel like bravery. It simply felt like taking the next step forward.”
I’m going to bury myself in a hole so that I can scream and cry in peace with my emotions to be whisked away by Lovelace ghosts.
A moment of silence because these stories were so nostalgic but also creative and highly emotional. I feel like all of these short stories were essential in understand the “whys” of the conflicts and just amazing additional content for any shadowhunter fan. In case you are wondering:
I recommend reading this short story collection after you’ve read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices but before The Dark Artifices and The Last Hours.
also I’m just simply shadowhunter trash.
The stories are so well done in this compilation and the way it kept tying back to the academy was creative. I was crying in every timeline and it gives me joy at how much content this world has. It might be intimidating from the outside but when you're in it... you're in.
everyone constantly points out the aspects of the characters that they don’t like and they find annoying but even though I respect their opinions… I just do not see it
