This was a disappointment. Far too much inner dialogue, and why are we repeating things that happened in the previous chapter, but with the added inner dialogue. I don't wanna be in my own brain that much so why do i want THAT many of these characters depressing and pointless thoughts. This book was one giant hot mess. I'll still be reading the others in the series, I just hope they're not like this.

What to say about this book. It's probably one of the worst books I've read this year. It feels like a shitty fan fiction that should have stayed back in 2012, even worse that it was published in 2019. If I wanted fanfiction I'd go to ao3. This book was a gigantic mess from the terrible writing, being littered with pop culture references (but not in a good way, ya know?), and SO many plot holes. I will not be reading any of the other books.

I couldn't even finish chapter 1. Hearing "Mike Martin" that many times already is a crime. I can just tell it's going to be a reoccurring thing throughout the book.

An ingrown toenail would be far less painful than finishing this book.

Another day, another book I was looking forward to that's littered with sloppy writing and pop culture references; in chapter 1 alone, there was 10. I was going to hate read this but it's honestly not worth my time, and it's not worth yours.
dnf @ 15% with 19 pop culture violations.

For a book that is only 266 pages, the first 100 pages are filled with: 'i cant do xyz because they'll see my scars' (BUT YET WEARS ANKLE SOCKS THAT SHOW THE SCARS???), 'i have no one since my parents and twin died', SO MUCH TALK ABOUT DC AND MARVEL(also the full drawer of superhero lingerie was cringy as hell). The FMC being unbearably annoying. I feel like it was unnecessary to mention so many times that she loves 'nerdy' things, and twice that her favorite is Joker. Her entire personality is "iM nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs". ugh she's so much worse tho.
You'd think 40% in there would be something interesting? Nope. Just the same repetitive things that serve no purpose; like multiple pages of her cooking the MMC’s breakfast, going so far into detail about said breakfast.
All of the characters in this book are so bland. It also baffles me that she’s in witness protection and just allowed strangers like that into her home lol. I can’t bring myself to read anymore of this, it's just that cringy. How this has so many high ratings is truly a mystery.

I listened to this audiobook and it's basically Twilight/Vampire Diaries but make it Australian and more cringy. Speaking of, why are vampires in Australia? You'd think it's not ideal since it's so warm/sunny there. Anywhooo, this book was terrible, i really tried to power though but tbh it's not worth my time or yours, unless you feel like torturing yourself

Thinking about reading anymore of this (audiobook) is giving me a migraine on top of my already existing migraine.
