thelovelylibrarylady's Reviews (1.1k)

If you’re a fan of the movie 9 to 5 or the Finlay Donovan book series, be sure to add The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club to your shelf. Three women, all thoroughly jaded by the same man, bond over their shared experience and quickly become close friends. But when that man turns up dead, they’re determined to get to the bottom of it, especially since they’re the most obvious suspects (and they swear they didn’t do it!). This story had several laugh out loud moments, and I had a great time reading it. I was especially impressed by how Chao wrapped everything up in the end. I can easily see this novel becoming a fan favorite among readers of all backgrounds when it is published this summer!

A Tempest of Tea

Hafsah Faizal

DID NOT FINISH: 44%

A Tempest of Tea has a lot of world-building. I am not a frequent fantasy reader and found it hard to keep up with the story in the audiobook format. I might go back to this title in a different format, as the parts that I was able to grasp did pique my interest.

The Murderess

Laurie Notaro

DID NOT FINISH: 17%

I was frustrated with The Murderess as the blurb sounded SO good. A historical crime fiction novel is right up my alley. Unfortunately, the writing was just unbearable. This title would have benefited from some major editing.

The Woods are Waiting

Katherine Greene

DID NOT FINISH: 0%

I DNFed this title due to its slow pace. I had no connection to the main character, Cheyenne, and could not have cared less about her quest to discover the secrets of her hometown. Overall, I did not want to invest any more energy into The Woods Are Waiting.
