I LOVED this book and it probably would have been a five-star read if not for the third-act break up. Yes, it is a popular trope, but this book did not need it. Besides that, I adored the love interests, Farazan and David, and how they were (mostly) mature and communicative. This is a romance that I can see being an absolute hit amongst readers once it is published.

I really enjoyed this folk horror anthology. Each story was distinct and ranged in degrees of scariness. The Tallest Poppy was my favorite piece and if you are a Shirley Jackson fan it will likely also be your favorite as Chloe Gong’s writing reminded me of the great gothic writer’s. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick this one up, but it would be a great addition to a Halloween tbr!
I just love this series. In this installment, Andy returns to Lavender House to investigate a missing persons case, and it was a joy to revisit the characters I fell in love with in the first book. Rosen’s talent for noir fiction continues to shine.

What the Jigsaw Man taught me is sometimes it’s worth it to pick up the chunky book. Sitting just under 500 pages, this title is significantly longer than the books I usually read, but I am glad that I did not let its size scare me off. The cat and mouse game between a notorious serial killer, his copycat, and an inspector kept me on my toes. If you are a fan of police procedurals, this is one that you must add to your list!
