Once again, I find myself loving a Reylo inspired book, when I know literally nothing about Star Wars. A lot of the common critiques about this book are things I ended up loving. I loved that the book, while being called "The Hurricane Wars" the War part did not last long. It was a fresh take to get to see the post-war politics. I think the world building was done really well. It's a little heavy at first, but I have come to expect that for any high fantasy book.
It took me a little bit of time to get hooked on this, but once I was I think the plot moved along really well. I was equally interested in the plot/court politics/ secrets/ betrayals and the romance. I was expecting to get to the big event (vague so no spoilers) in this book, but I am not mad at the way it unfolded.
I genuinely loved both Talasyn and Alaric. & I loved that this was a true ENEMIES to lovers. The two really did HATE each other and continue to try bicker and literally try to k!ll each other the entire book. This is the slowest of slow burns that will make you wanna scream "JUST KISS ALREADY!" I already have the ARC of book 2 I cannot wait to get into it & to spend more time in the Night Empire.
