Library hold expired.

I've enjoyed this book so far but I have too many obligations at the moment I need to read first.

I had so much trouble with the first two chapters and have no desire to continue reading this. The main character seems to be mis-aged (he reads like he should be 11 or 12, not 15) and the writing style just seems overly simplified for the target audience. I've heard Allende's adult works are fantastic, so I will probably give one of those a shot and not read her YA works.

I was really looking forward to this book but I can't stand the MC.

Still planning to finish, but I'm eleven chapters in and the story hasn't really grabbed me yet.

Really enjoyed the start of this book...but the style of the book ends each chapter by spoiling the events of next and I can't stand it. I will try and pick this up again later.

Will return to, just have too many other books to read at the moment & I'm not making progress on this one.

Stopping this read because it's just not plausible for me and the two main characters act more like moony-eyed teenagers than respected archaeological professors.

I do really want to read this book, and quite a few people have told me this was one of their favorite books of 2021. However, I haven't made much progress so far so I'm going to set it aside for another month.

DNF’d at 6% 

Well this is a hard pass. I don’t normally rate books I DNF (how could you give something an overall rating if you haven’t finished it?), but I’m making an exception. Obviously, I didn't make it very far into the audiobook version, but a couple of sentences were worded weird enough that they made me pause and research the book (and authors). Turns out, not only are they right-wing conspiracy theorists, they’re also sexist antivaxers who are aggressively transphobic online. Incredibly disappointed to have accidentally picked up a pseudoscience book, and from other reviews (on Goodreads and the StoryGraph), I’m glad I decided to set this aside early on.
