I know that Marc Levy is quite a well thought of French author so I'm going to assume that the state of the prose, at least, might be a result of something being 'lost in translation'. Unfortunately, the prose isn't the only issue with this book. The dialogue is poorly written and rarely feels remotely realistic, the characters are non-believable to the point of being a touch ridiculous, the 'big romantic moments' that you've been waiting for are anti-climactic and generally a bit bizarre and the entire thing just didn't quite work for me.

At least it was free, I suppose!
