It was a book I had read as a teenager. Tamora Pierce is a great writer to create such an in-depth world. She has several other series that happen in the same world as this one that just add more depth.

I loved this book as much as I did when I was 13. Diane and her friends are atoll interesting and fun, and the conflict is still engaging.
