This one got me reading for 3 straight hours in the early morning. Damn; wild ride, not over by a longshot though.
Emma isn't normal, she has always known this. Her hair is almost white, her skin is almost alabaster, her eyes are violet. And then there was that time on the beach...
Give The Syrena Legacy a read.

This story was just as edge of your seat thrilling as the last two. Yet, it was somehow expected and abundantly obvious that it would end with a mating ceremony. would have been nice for the two of them to realize that they are too young to make any such commitment to each other.
Alas, one cannot have everything, it's always one of three: great plot, fast read, great writing. the thing is, you can only have two...

Oh, I did not expect to read this book so fast, or love it this much. Kai is so adorable, I am glad though that he doesn't end up with you know who right away. leave a little mystery for the fifth date. Levana drives me insane just to think about her. I have known so many people just like her, creepy mind control included.
wasn't expecting to meet Cress so quickly either, for some reason I was under the impression these were tied in standalone novels. They are so much better than that. If you haven't tried them yet, do so.

Violet Lasting is no more. Now she is lot 197, which is better than lot 53 if one has to be known only by a number. lot 197 is part of the surrogate auction. She is property. For the rest of her days she will be poked and prodded, then inseminated, give birth, and then she will die. Childbirth always kills surrogates.
There are five rings and a center in this world. The Marsh, where 197 is from. The Smoke, where her father worked. The Farm, where her brother works. The Bank, where 197 hopes she will go. Finally, The Jewel, where she will likely end up. Most surrogates go to The Jewel, the center where the royalty lives. Royals, are, after all, a dying breed...
This book was surprisingly good, I really connected with Violet; I was absolutely enraged several times at what is done to her. the imagery was quite good, though, for the life of me I couldn't settle on what certain characters looked like.

Wow, that didn't even feel like 800 some odd pages. I was tricked, I tell you, tricked! In all seriousness though I do have a bone to pick with this whole Winter thing. She hasn't used her Lunar manipulation in years, so how in the hell did she do what she did in that certain chapter. At all. How? Tell me.
As always the world building was brilliant, and the characters were so memorable that I slipped right into it. I absolutely adored Cress and Thorne in this one. the relationship was highly realistic considering the whole satellite aspect. And his being tongue tied around her was a little corny but it did get the point across. Please, please tell me that we get to see Cinder and Kai get married in some anthology or other.
And, finally, I am actually now curious to read Levana's story. I want to know more about Channary and whether she really was as awful as all that. And, if so, where the hell did Cinder get her awesomeness from.

Wow, a very strong start to a post-apocalyptic series. Or, would that be a during apocalypse series. Anyway, loved the world building. Some of the sciency stuff though, not so sure. For instance unless your vehicle is electric and plugged in at the time of the blast, an EMP won't kill your battery. It will fry the power grid though, which makes getting gas almost impossible.
I like that the one person she finally trusts is an alien, proving that even in such a disaster with clear lines drawn in the sand, there are people on both sides who don't agree. Fuck Vosch, seriously, Fuck him.
I loved the code names even though they were being used to dehumanize the kids to one another. Seriously though, who the fucking hell came up with the neck implant that can track you and fry your brain, that is the stuff of NIGHTMARES right there.
Hat's off to you Mr. Yancey, will definitely be reading the other books in this trilogy.

Wow. That was very different from the TV show. It was good, though. Not shout it on a mountain top good; just good.
The world building was incredibly easy to slip into. I actually prefer the blonde Elena from these books to Nina's portrayal in the show. The most glaring difference has to be Damon and Stefan themselves. And the lore, any old human will do to let a vampire in to my house, eh? Don't know if I like that.
Somehow I actually prefer Caroline the way she is in the books; vindictive. Somehow the town being named Fell's Church makes more sense than Mystic Falls. Reading this book something clicked into place for me. I now get the characters motivations and actually like the story for once.

As much as it was so easy and comfortable to slip back into the shadowhunter world, like slipping into your favorite worn-out jeans; that's all it was. A comfortable read. It did not excite or thrill me in anyway. The bad guy was a surprise. The relationship between E and J felt very forced and cringe-worthy.
It is like the author has something deeply against platonic love. I never realized this in all my years of anticipating her next books. After this read I am really not sure that I will be picking up the next Dark Artifices book. I just don't feel that it is worth the frustration and angst between E and J to hear about Tessa and Jem some more, or to hear details about Malec.

This one got me right in the soul. Overtones of racism and disability discrimination, both internally and externally. The story of Jarra Reaath is one I will not forget, because when you strip away all the science fiction it is a story that happens every day for someone.
Whether you relate to Jarra or not this story has an important and beautiful message: acceptance starts within. If you don't love the skin/life you're in, it is an awful lot harder to go through it. This book tells the story of a girl who has grown up in a world that sees her as inferior for something out of her control. She grows up bitter and angry and with every intention of being just as horrible to these people as they have been to her. Will she take her revenge? You will have to read it to find out.
I especially loved that the ending isn't all sunshine and rainbows, it's just different from the start.
