Feminism Horror and Powerful

I am not big into horror but I was interested in reading Such A Pretty Smile. It took me a while to read this as DeMeester's book is hugely violent, visceral and gorey. All the characters are powerful, and I felt myself drawn to them.

Such A Pretty Smile draws you in with the concept of feminism horror, and deals with very sensitive topics such as grief, sexism, and societal norms. This book takes you on a wild ride.

If you are sensitive to the trigger warnings that come with this book, or are a dog lover, DO NOT READ THIS.
However, I would highly recommend Kristi's book to any horror fan.

Thank you to NetGalley, Kristi DeMeester and St. Martin's Press for the chance to review an ARC copy.

I'm in love with Queen of Madness.

This was such a good book and I loved reading every word of it.

I found myself loving the dynamics between Ezekiel and Onyx and loved them before they even met. They played off each other so well, and the build up was phenomenal. Onyx is such a powerful character and her being the Queen of Hearts is such a power move. Seeing the way they all found each other is endearing. Ezekiel is also powerful in his own way, and being a book reader himself!

I don't think I've read a book recently that made me love all the characters as well as QoM has. Every single character in it, whether it's one of Onyx's inner circle or not, has a unique personality and qualities that I came to love. I think it definitely helped that we got multiple POVs, and got further into everyone's mindset.

I loved getting all the references interspersed throughout, and the themes of it woven in.

Queen of Madness made me laugh, made me cry and made me delve deeper into dark romance.

I'm so excited to read the duet.

I'll be honest, it took me forever to get through this novel, it was very slow and kind of lagged at parts, but I found it overall a fun read.

I liked reading about the different Gods and Goddesses, and how both Hunter and Mercy connected to their god/goddess themselves. Reading about Witches is always a favorite of mine, but I felt a bit of relation to their House of Night series and how the vampires held their rituals.

Like some, I was confused at the POVs weaved throughout, with there not being a set POV but 3rd person told from one characters POV.

The idea of grief is very heavily introduced and I felt like the way all the characters dealt with their own grief and trauma was very relatable and very real.

I would like to thank the author, Mina Skye for a copy to review.

Game Over: A Cinderella Debauchery is a cinderella retelling that you won't want to miss.

This wasn't a typical retelling and I loved that aspect of it. You think you know what to expect but you really don't. The references throughout Cinderella are perfect, and how the characters are intertwined, and how they all connect to the overall plot.

I found myself relating to Cyndi, being a gamer and not liking her new family. I really liked how Knox and Cyndi found each other and became right for each other.

If I had one negative thing to say, it's that it was a fast read.

Overall, I loved this retelling and can't wait to read it again, and I can't wait for the second!

THAT ENDING.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a book give me that much of a visceral reaction ever.

I loved this retelling and loved all the characters.

And reading this for the first time in 2021 and reading about Audrey Rose’s father being overprotective and making them wear masks in public, I can’t
