This was quite a cute read, and I enjoyed the way in which Muslim culture is shown with a lot of a diversity and nuance. Characters are nice, though I think YA doesn't really do it for me. But it is a very nice YA book and I had fun reading it between more intense novels.

Daisy Johnson is such a fantastic writer and this book kept me hanging on every word. It includes everything I love: creepy houses, sisters and absolutely amazing writing. I read that this feels a bit like something Shirley Jackson could've written, and in a way it does, but the style and the structure are all Johnson's and she manages the twist beautifully (I did see it coming, but not that long before the actual twist). I can't wait to see what she does next!
