Fun read. I liked this better than the first book but I'm not happy with where the characters ended up at the end.

Like how Orso died? Is he even dead? If he is dead then that's a disservice to the character. The kooky scientist was one of my favorite things from the first book but he doesn't get a lot of lines here. Spends most of the book too injured to do much and then he jumps off the boat super quick to sacrifice himself. For a city that is going to shit anyway?
Then there's Gregor. Why did he think melding his mind with an AI was going to do any good? Plus, doesn't that go away once he poops out the scrivings?
Then there's the whole sharing your mind with your significant other.
No one would be that quick to agree to that regardless of circumstances. They have no thoughts they wouldn't want the other to hear? No memories they would like to keep to themselves. What love is so innocent?

I would not recommend the audio. Had to read this one physically because the guy narrating was super annoying. His voice doesn't fit the story and he reads like he's only reading one sentence at a time.
The story is good for what it is. Not much more to say about it.

This book has a lot of great concepts and ideas. I also enjoyed the characters here more than I did in his other series. I can see it's strengths but it just missed the mark for me. I cringed more than a couple times and sometimes it just felt off. However, I did like it. It's alright. If the next two are better it might raise my opinion of this one.

I really enjoyed this series. Normally I'm a fan of stories with more bulk but this little series is something special.

I'm impressed how much story is packed into this small package. It's more political than the first book but thats generally the case in sequels. The description for this one is a little misleading. It's less about the sister and more about seeing an other part of the Radch and the consequences of the culture they impose on annexed civilizations. Poverty, corruption, slavery, and a mystery space gate. I just wish there had been more of a climax at the end.

This is just entertaining. It has great characters and a cinematic story progression. I can see why the adaptations didn't feel the need to mess with anything. The audio narrator here did a fantastic job with the all the accents. Thoroughly enjoyed.

It's a quick book and it has its moments.
