I really liked this story. I thought it was well written and compelling. It's a science fiction story told in the style of literary fiction. It's more like a contemporary historical urban sci-fi, if that's a thing. It left me with a bit of a book hangover, which I love. Day dreaming about what I would do with myself if I was born again and again. I would probably just run out of books to read.
One thing I have to say is... I agree with the villain. I want to look in the mirror. 😈

This started out a little slow, but by the end, I was really into it. It's definitely a soft core fantasy geared towards a younger crowd, but when that's done well, it can be magical. This story accomplished that for me. Lots of whimsy. I can see why they tried to make a Ghibli movie out of it. Wish that had better reviews. Looks like it is not worth watching. I would recommend this to someone who likes Harry Potter or Howls Moving Castle.

This is definitely a solid sci-fi thriller. Like most people, I love the movie, and the book didn't disappoint. Now I need to go watch the movie again because why not. 🦖

I like this the same way I like bad TV.

I just really don't care about Fillip. I understand why some people might want to know where he ended up, but I'm not one of them. It's not a terrible story, just not what I wanted. The one thing I liked about it is that it's a story of a jerk taking power, like most of the expanse stories. It just deals this it in a blunt way that none of the others books did. It was almost like it was breaking its own rhythm. Props for that.

Mighty fine conclusion. I wish it had been a bit longer. More come down after the climax. But I still have the last novella, so maybe I'll get it there. Though I do appreciate this ending for what it did. A little wonder is never a bad thing.
Adding a new character in the last book isn't something I was enjoying, but her actions and lines, at the end, made the whole thing worth it.
While I wouldn't consider this series an all-time favorite, it's definitely a great read. Would recommend for any sci-fi fan but also for sci-fi beginners. It's more cinematic than other stories. Good for movie lovers.

This was awesome. It's probably the best book in the series. Some events were completely unpredictable, which was a joy. It also got me really hyped for the conclusion. Fantastic.
When Amos was killed I was pissed. I was thinking you can't kill him like that. What was he even doing there? Someone needs to be his moral compass. He knows that. Why is he off on his own? Then it finally clicks that the repair drones are the dogs from Strange Dogs. Not like Amos being a half alien is what I wanted but it makes more sense than shooting a great character in the head. If he had been actually dead this would not have been a 5 star read. His death just wasn't spectacular enough to be his end.
The other big character moment that got me was Bobby's death. Seeing it from Alex's perspective gave me goosebumps. Super emotional and a great visual to picture her as a valkyrie.

Solid story. It adds to the overall story without being a part of it. If you're reading the series, don't skip the novellas. Read them chronologically with the novels.

This was great. The overall story really picks up. It's exactly what was missing from the last book. I am curious to know how old Holden is here. Everyone on the Roci, really. I mean, they talk about how much time has passed, but with anti-aging meds, who knows? I don't remember them talking about overall life expectancy in this universe. Maybe they did, and I missed it.

Well. It's got cool alien mysteries. I just hate being put in a child's perspective in an adult science fiction. More specifically, it is a stupid child's perspective. I understand the intent, I just don't care for it. The story itself is fine, even well written. Except for the fact that I don't think scientists would let their kids run around on an alien planet unsupervised. Especially one with a diverse alien ecosystem. Even if they had been there 8 years, I don't see it. And when death occurs, it's from drinking and driving.

Since I just started book 7, I can see this is important knowledge to have for the series. So, you got to read it. You'll probably like it more than I did.
