2/28/19: I can already tell that this book is going to give me the biggest book hangover of my life. 😭😭

Holly Black why did you have to do this to me? I literally don’t want to read anything else until I have the next book in my hands. I feel so betrayed and shocked and freaking shook to my core. The cliffhanger is truly going to kill me.

I really liked the first book but let me tell you this book was EVEN BETTER. LIKE WAY BETTER. All the political drama, backstabbing, sneaking around, angst, everyone having their own agendas, new plot twists that I didn’t see coming, and on top of all that it’s set in a beautiful world with faeries and mermaids and pixies and goblins. It’s so cool!! And I love how dark she wrote the world as well. I want to read all the faerie based fantasy books now😍

p.s. freaking CARDAN! I absolutely hated Cardan in the first book but The Wicked King made me fall in love with him honestly. I just freaking love Cardan so much.

1/8/19: HAPPY RELEASE DAY!🎉 I can’t wait to finally get my hands on this book! I requested it from my library and I’m 6th in line to get it so let’s hope people read quickly lol😂

Having just finished the ADSOM series, this was a fun and quick thing to read that allowed me to stay in the world for a little bit longer. I think it was entertaining and had a lot of action, and it was fun to see a couple of characters depicted that show up in the main books. However, I think because of the art style it was hard for me at times to figure out what was happening and I got confused at a few points where we abruptly jump between scenes.

I think I do want to read the rest of the volumes because of how much I love ADSOM but I do see them more as a fun addition for fans of the main trilogy of books rather than a graphic novel series that can stand entirely on its own.

This was such a great fantasy novella! The writing immediately pulled me in, and the characters and world kept me reading. From the beginning, I felt attached to Tutu and wanted him to succeed in his mission. I also loved the setting of The Forever Desert a lot and honestly wished I could read a full-length novel about it. Although this was under 100 pages, I think the author did a great job of making it feel as well-rounded as a full-length novel would be. I am very much excited to read the sequel to this novella as well as his full-length young adult novel, and I will be keeping my eyes peeled for any other books this author comes out with in the future!

(Sidenote: this cover is so freakin cool)

I just didn't feel compelled to keep reading this one and since demons/supernatural creatures are not usually my cup of tea I'm not sure if I will ever come back to it.

This book is way too long in my opinion, the story is super slow, I can’t tell you one significant thing that happened in 200 pages, some of the writing is pretty cringy, and the fact that Garrett has like 2 dozen brothers is really confusing. It’s too many characters to develop properly so there’ll basically just names with no discernible personalities.

I wanted to read this for The Literally Dead Book Club but I just wasn’t feeling it and I want to move on to other books. I might try again eventually but I think I’m just not in the mood for this type of book right now.
