Writing style was very good, easy to read and held a great tone. Tara does an amazing job as capturing the voices of Cayo and Amaya and making their chapters distinctive. I really liked the city of Moray and the political tensions established in the world building. I especially liked the excerpts from different tales and books at the start of each chapter. I think Amaya is one of my favorite female characters ever, along side Liesl and Deadshot. Amaya was so messy and brash, but filled with heart and morals. I loved seeing her battle with herself and her choices, and in the end she could only do what she thought was best at the moment.

Liesl and Deadshot are the best wives and I love their relationship so much. I also really liked Cayo and how he developed through the story, starting to gain some agency to take his life in his own hands.

Overall, great story, great characters, and great writing. Really looking forward to Ravage next.

Cinders of Yesterday is a richly developed, action-packed paranormal fantasy debut that everyone needs to read. If you love magic and monsters and badass knife wives, then you'll fall head-over-heels in love with this story. Dani and Emilie are such beautifully messy and relatable characters with so much more to show. I'm beyond excited to see how Jen is going to develop these girls in the sequel, and what sort of trouble they'll get into next.

The Lost Carnival is one of DC Entertainment’s best YA releases thus far. A brilliantly written story with rich art, in-depth stakes, and quite a diverse cast. I loved this teenage portrayal of Dick Grayson; being able to peek inside Haly’s circus and what it was like for Dick to be part of the Flying Graysons. I also immensely enjoyed the tensions and mystery surrounding the sudden appearance of the Lost Carnival and the secrets that unfolded along the way. The introduction of powerfully diverse ladies such as Willow and Luciana added so much to the story’s depth and made me fall in love with them on their own merit alone. I’d love a graphic novel focusing just on Willow and her powers.

All in all, this is an amazing re-imagining of Dick Grayson’s character. The character development is wonderful and real, the art is breathtakingly gorgeous, and the story is both satisfying and mystifying. Definitely a must-read.
