An outstanding sequel, with amazing character development and rich, high-stakes plot. Emily does such an amazing job at continuing the thread of the story from Wicked Saints to Ruthless Gods and making it even better than the last. She is definitely an author to keep tabs on, and I can’t wait to read the next book and see what she comes out with in the future. If you were a huge fan of Wicked Saints then this is a must for pre-order. April can’t come soon enough.

I love Teen Titans and Raven is my favorite heroine, but I found this comic to be quite confusing and all over the place. It was a fun read, typical high school angst mixed with magic and demons. I just feel like they could have done a little better given how Raven has always been portrayed. They did do a great job with the art and her aesthetic. There is a scene where she is in the school bathroom and a massive shadowed raven appears behind her which was awesome. It’s a worthy read for something quick.

I adore the heck out of Linsey Miller and her Mask of Shadows duology was very interesting and fun. However, Belle Revolte just wasn’t what I had hoped for. The magic system is unique and fun, pulling on the powers of the sun and moon for different aspects of healing and divination. My problem just comes with the pacing. The first half of the book is very slow, nothing is really happening and you don’t know what the main plot line is until about half way through the book. Then it’s all a high-tail to the end with one event happening after another and another. I couldn’t follow along and found myself having to re-read huge chunks of the book just to understand what was happening where.

The ending was also a bit rushed and some things still don’t make sense to me. Like there are just threads that don’t add up.

It breaks my heart that this wasn’t a favorite. But I do hope if you like the way the book sounds that you’ll give it a try. Or, at least read her Mask of Shadows duology. Linsey is a wonderful person and such a sweet author even though she writes some of the most wonderfully creepy things. She is great and I’m so sorry I couldn’t love this book like the others.

Can’t wait till her next novel comes out though.

Great book for authors and creatives who need a way to fight through doubt and inner resistance. Gives you the tools to push forward and keep going despite fears.
