Many thanks to NetGalley, Michelle Brandon and Harper Collins publishing for the advanced copy of this book.

Overall this book was good. I must say ,as a former sorority girl ,I was incredibly nervous what this book was going to be. I think it poked fun at  the stereotypes upfront but truly focused on deeper topics throughout. While the characters are all known for embracing some wild, taboo and possibly illegal habits it is about them individually not the organizations mentioned. If you are into juicy, drama filled, and a messy revenge plot this is the book for you.

When life digs up your deepest darkest secrets , literally, what do you do? That is precisely the situation all of our main characters face throughout this book. Somehow you both love and hate them equally throughout.  While the pacing starts a bit slow it picks up after a bit and you are waiting for the next page to reveal the next secret or clue.

Would be a perfect beach read!

Thank you to NetGalley , the publisher and Shanora Williams for the ARC of this book!

Once again Shanora Williams delivers an incredible read that you simply don’t want to put down . I literally read this is in two sittings because I had to know what happened next. The short chapters and alternating viewpoints with Eve’s diary made this a quick read . The  chapters kept you hanging on for the next word .

If your former best friend wrongs you in an unforgivable manner do you still care for them? A moral dilemma and a mysterious disappearance That is the unimaginable situation the main character Rose finds herself stuck in throughout this novel . After nearly 3 months of no contact due to a fight her former best friend is missing and she has to fight to process her mixed emotions while she wanders out to find Eve , her former friend.

While some small things felt predictable, I think overall the information and clues were sprinkled in perfectly throughout. Every single character and story event kept you guessing what was actually happening until the last moment.  The characters are flawed and raw in a way that makes the storyline even better. Overall this was a 5 star read for me .  I look forward to reading more from this author in the future .

Firstly I would like to thank NetGalley and the Heartdrum Harper Collins Publishing for the advanced copy of this book. Truly a pleasure to read!

This book is a YA anthology that  will reach out and engage many ages.  Each story is connected via one consistent location , Sandy June’s Legendary Frybread Drive In,  and small interwoven details from other stories. The Legendary Frybread Drive In represents a unique utopia of sorts as it serves to create solutions for each character and their varied troubles. The mystical drive in is run by a group of tribal elders with plenty of wisdom and traditions to share .  Isn’t that what we all desire most days? Connections to our heritage , wisdom from our ancestors, a shared safe space and the peace that comes with knowing your problems aren’t always as big as they feel.

This anthology was put together wonderfully. I was engaged throughout each story and often times didn’t want them to end. The various authors brought a pleasant variety of writing styles and issues forward while maintaining a strong cohesiveness to the other story lines. The pacing in each story individually and as a whole was perfect in my opinion. While I have read a couple of these authors before , I was thankful for the introduction to many new voices as well. I look forward to buying physical copies to share with some local libraries , schools & some friends/family . From middle grades to old age this is a feel good book everyone should enjoy.

This is an excellent read . Traister beautifully highlights the fights of women of the past and the importance of the continued fight despite any sexist rhetoric . The call out about a woman’s natural desire to express “extreme” emotions and expression of self,In order to maintain credibility and a semblance of respect from a patriarchal society was especially striking . I think especially In today’s political climate this is a great read

Wow.

This one is very heavy. I am in complete awe and amazement that this was written by a 17 yr old!

The topics discussed from the start are triggering and deeply unsettling. At moments I wanted to simultaneously throw up and scream . Following E through the streets of Oakland and a life full of problems. You want to cry for her , shake every adult that she’s ever been around , & also just hold and rock her .  The story is a perfect highlight of social injustices & systemic abuse of power .  If you are ready to hear a very powerful and raw story about life on the streets this is a must read.

Many thanks to NetGalley , Mary Anna Evans and the publishers for offering me the opportunity to read an advance copy of this novel.

This one was not at all what I expected based on the blurb but I was pleasantly surprised. A mystery with many layers unfolds in this novel. When E is summoned home unexpectedly under the alarming circumstances that her mother is missing and her father is seriously ill , it is up to her to solve the mysteries around her parents, face her own past, balance a household & life all while a war takes place .

The layers of mystery are slowly revealed throughout the book in a way that keeps you hungry for more information . Mary Anna Evans did a stupendous job balancing the plot line & connecting you to the characters while building the realistic world of 1940s New York . The imagery was so captivating. The characters were so real you were ready to cheer them on like a dear friend and in some instances ready to fight those with ill intentions.  While I thought it was going to be more focused on the books in the library throughout , it was a wonderful storyline and tied all together wonderfully in the end.

If you like a touch of historical fiction with layers of mystery and dark academia vibes this would be a great fit !

First I would like to thank NetGalley and Tova Mirvis for the allowing me to read an advance copy of this novel .

For me this was closer to a 3.5 star read .  I was incredibly intrigued when reading the description of the book but it fell just a bit short for my likes.

While I did enjoy this author’s writing style very much ,the pacing wasn’t as fast or intense as I typically gravitate towards. However, the characters were all written so well . Each character had such a real sense to them that you could find something to relate to each one in some small way . The best part of this book for me was the dive in the psyche elements of the characters as they process all of their emotions, trauma, toxic family dynamics, motivations, and moral limitations. It was also nice to see a nod at the toxicity of media sensationalism and speculation in such cases . The ending felt a bit anticlimactic for me as I had already guessed it  but also a bit abrupt . Personally I was hoping for just a tiny bit more of a twist or elaboration.

Overall it’s good and I look forward to looking into the case that inspired this .
