3.5/5 Probably one of my favorite Pride and Prejudice adaptations ever--and I've read/watched A LOT. As someone who studied P&P and subsequent adaptations for an entire semester, I was looking for a very specific alignment with the original and this did not disappoint. Zoboi managed to get the class tension between Zuri and Darius in a way that few others have been able to do with their own Lizzie's and Darcy's. At times Zuri came off as emotionally scattered; I couldn't consistently get a handle on what she was feeling or if I could, why. However, I was very impressed with the Wickham/Warren modernization. I was wondering how Zoboi was going to make the contemporary stakes just as high and I really enjoyed what she did with that. Darius felt a little flat at times but that's consistent with Mr. Darcy. The culture-clash in this book is relevant and striking. I felt for Zuri in a way that a 21st-century woman can't quite relate to Elizabeth Bennett. Nicely done.

This comic was enjoyable but I wish there had been a bit more character development for Abbott and the villain. I don't quite understand the villain's motive and at times the story dragged on for me. I do love the idea of a bad ass, bisexual, chainsmoking, black reporter having an immense amount of power via truth and light.
2.5/5 Not my favorite. A lot of one-off stories that didn't further the plot. Interesting to see different people in the town, but that's generally not what I'm looking for when I read Nailbiter. Hope the rest of the series avoids pulling stunts like this.
