4.5/5 Since I don't know Norse mythology (other than what Marvel has "taught" me), I don't have much to compare Gaiman's collection to; however, I have read bits and pieces of other mythology collections and I have to say, Gaiman has made these stories come to life. Sometimes writers make their retellings seem just as ancient as the myths themselves, but Gaiman manages to keep a fresh tone throughout each tale. I only knocked half a star because I don't think that I could count this book as one of my favorites (that's a pretty exclusive bunch), but while it didn't quite move me to LOVELOVELOVE levels, I certainly enjoyed the journey.

REALLY GREAT! Even if you don't know Archie or comics, this is a great piece. You can easily pick up the relationships between the characters and Aguirre-Sacasa does this in a way that doesn't rehash all the complex nuances that lifelong Archie fans already know. The art is wonderful and easy to follow. Oddly enough, nothing seems too outlandish. Can't wait for Volume 2!

Very intriguing! I had "Magic Dance" going through my head for about the first quarter of this collection and then I got so wrapped up in the story that it did a perfect fade out. As a kid (and even an adult) the lore of Labyrinth confused me. Even though I loved it so much, I had a hard time wrapping my head around a lot of the characters and the challenges they faced. Don't even get me started on the ballroom scene. Maybe I need to go back and rewatch? Well, anyways, this comic does NOT do that! I'm getting more backstory while also getting new characters who I can understand so far. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing with this series.
