Ultimately, I'm really surprised that this volume doesn't have a higher rating. I sped through this volume whereas with Volume 1 I felt like I was crawling through it (maybe I just don't like cop dramas and that's why volume one felt so slow?). The characters in Volume 2 felt much more human and flawed; their chosen manipulation of the Beauty is a nice contrast to the expectations set by the main characters in Volume 1. Timo and Ez are deeply broken people but there's something about them--their story and connection is intriguing.
I'm not sure if the negative reviews I've read concerning the different plots are from people who aren't regular comics readers or people who just genuinely don't like the idea of a new story, but this isn't new for comics. Stories jump around all the time. Part of getting into comics is being completely lost and paddling your way through to understanding. I'm actually quite compelled to keep reading and see how these two seemingly disparate stories connect.
