Okay, this book is everywhere right now, and I am loving reading all the glowing reviews! It follows Kat and Heath as they skate through a whirlwind of drama, and honestly, I couldn't get enough. I devoured their journey—talk about intense! I was completely hooked and couldn't put it down.
Full confession: I got home to finish it after night skiing, but I was totally wiped out, and let's just say, I wasn't thrilled with the ending at first. So, I decided to sleep on it and reread quite a few chapters the next day. And guess what? I totally changed my mind. I ended up loving it. There was just so much to the story, and a great takeaway.
There was one small thing I didn’t love, so I was hesitant to give it 5 stars, but I can’t stop thinking about it—so here we are.
Going back and forth between 3.5-4⭐️
This book was picked by my in-person book club. I was a bit hesitant because I didn’t really enjoy her last book (I know, unpopular opinion). But this one started off strong, this alternated between past and present timelines. I did seem to enjoy the present timeline more.
It deals with tough topics, and I tried to see things from Evie’s perspective. I ended up binge-reading it because I wanted to know what happened next.
I’d say the book is about finding hope in the midst of chaos and exploring themes of grief, loss, and the possibility of a second chance at a better life.
I was eagerly anticipating this one, especially after thoroughly enjoying her last two books. From the moment I started, though, it was clear this one was quite different.
It’s a shorter read, and I found myself wanting to savor every moment of her writing. James returns to her small hometown to investigate her twin’s mysterious death. The story moves at a slow pace, which fits the mood perfectly. I really enjoyed every second of it, even finding myself putting the book down just to prolong the experience.
I found the start of this book started great! Then a lot of characters were introduced which I found was hard to keep track of. It was definitely eerie and perfect for this time of year (winter). It kept me on my toes.
Thanks to Netgalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for my advanced e copy in exchange for my honest review.

The first book took me a couple of chapters to fully get into, but once I did, I was absolutely hooked. The characters? Totally lovable. The setting? Perfection. I was so invested that I grabbed the second book before even finishing the first – I just couldn’t wait to keep going!
Here are some words that come to mind when reading this phenomenal duology:
- Enchanting
- Mystical
- Suspenseful
- Compelling
- Atmospheric
Seriously, this duology is a must-read!
