Beautifully written memoir, the prose is so enchanting and poetic

Baldwin's words are always so powerful, lyrical and insightful. These essays are no different, but still a refreshing perspective from him outside of his fiction work. His commentary on the plight of Black Americans is still all too relevant today. An emotive discussion of an issue that is often too much thought of as a merely academic one in the West. 

Beautifully written book, a classic for a reason. My intro into Baldwin and I've never looked back since. The emotion and mood in this book is something else, easily fell in love with the characters, the writing and everything Baldwin created in here.

Very interesting insight on book covers from an author. Outside of the logistics of marketing and publicity it was nice to hear a take on book covers that’s more about the personal feeling of the authors themselves, especially since they don’t often get a say in how their book looks
